Harrisburg, Pa. - The Harrisburg Senators (22-20) won their seventh straight game, beating the Portland Sea Dogs (15-28), 6-5 on Monday night in the series opener at FNB Field. Portland had two leads, 11 hits, but lost their third straight game.

Leading 5-4 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, Luis Ysla (1-2) could not hold the lead, taking the loss for Portland. Chris Bostick (2 triples) led off the eighth with a triple and scored the tying run on a triple by Zach Collier. Harrisburg had 4 triples on the night. The game-winning run scored on a sacrifice fly by Adrian Sanchez.

In the ninth, Koda Glover pitched a perfect frame to earn his second save of the year. Portland took a 5-4 lead over winning pitcher Derek Self (2-1) on Rainel Rosario's RBI single in the eighth. Rosario finished 3-for-4 with a double and run scored.

Portland trailed 1-0, but scored four times off starter Tyler Mapes in the third. Tzu-Wei Lin tied the game with a triple and scored on a single by Henry Ramos. Sean Coyle blasted a two-run homer to right field, his 17th Double-A home run.

Harrisburg added a run off Aaron Wilkerson in the fourth inning on Shawn Pleffner's RBI single. Wilkerson had his scoreless streak snapped at 21 innings in the second inning, and worked 5+ innings on 6 hits and 3 runs. The Senators tied the game in the sixth inning on Spencer Kieboom's two-run homer off Williams Jerez.

Catcher Jake Romanski added two hits, picking up his team-leading 12th multi-hit game of the season. Portland is 13 games under .500 for the second time this season, and 4-18 on the road.


The Sea Dogs and Harrisburg Senators (Nationals affiliate) play game two of their series on Tuesday night beginning at 7:00 PM. Righty Keith Couch (2-0, 0.90) makes his 4th start of the season for Portland. Harrisburg's Reynaldo Lopez (1-3, 4.10) makes his 8th start of the year. Sea Dogs snap three-game losing streak

HARRISBURG, Pa. —The Portland Sea Dogs got even in a four-game series with the Harrisburg Senators, winning 5-4 on Tuesday night at FNB Field in an Eastern League baseball game in front of 2,787 fans.

Portland snapped a three-game losing streak and ended Harrisburg’s seven-game win streak.

Keith Couch (3-0) worked six innings on six hits and four runs to earn the win for Portland. Chandler Shepherd hurled two scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn the hold and Mitch Atkins pitched the ninth for his second save of the year.

Harrisburg walks off, 2-1 over Portland

Harrisburg, Pa. - Harrisburg 3B Adrian Sanchez drew a four-pitch walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Senators (23-21) a 2-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (16-29) on Wednesday night at FNB Field. Harrisburg takes a 2-1 series lead, the Sea Dogs are 1-3 on their 5-game roadtrip.

Luis Ysla (1-3) took his second loss of the series, allowing a lead-off single in the ninth to Zach Collier. After a sac-bunt, Ysla walked the next three batters, throwing his final 10 pitches out of the strike zone.

Bryan Harper (Bryce's brother) retired Tim Roberson on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded in the ninth to earn his second win of the season.

Justin Haley (ND) had a terrific outing for the Sea Dogs, working six innings on 5 hits, one run, one walk and 8 strikeouts. Nik Turley fanned four over two scoreless innings of relief.

Portland scored in their first turn against Nationals Top Prospect Lucas Giolito. Sean Coyle doubled with one out and scored on Andrew Benintendi's RBI single. Giolito pitched 7 frames on 4 hits, one run, one walk and 6 strikeouts.

Harrisburg tied the game in the second inning. Collier tripled and came home on a single by Spencer Kieboom.

Portland has lost 19 of 24 games away from Hadlock Field and are 1-3 on a 5-game roadtrip. Harrisburg has won 8 of their last 9 games, and sits in third place in the Western Division.

The Sea Dogs wrap-up their 5-game roadtrip on Thursday morning against the Harrisburg Senators (Nationals affiliate) with a 10:30 AM first pitch from FNB Field. Senators beat Sea Dogs on bases-loaded walk

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Harrisburg Senators got a walk-off walk for the second consecutive game, defeating the Portland Sea Dogs 5-4 in Eastern League baseball action Thursday at FNB Field.

Portland’s Isaac Ballou drew a four-pitch bases-loaded walk in the home ninth for the game-winning RBI. Simon Mercedes (2-3) issued four walks in the frame, including three in a row to end the game. On Wednesday night, Harrisburg had three straight walks to end game, including a four-pitch walk for the game-winner.

Harrisburg’s Koda Glover (1-0) worked around a lead-off single to Cole Sturgeon in the ninth inning to earn his first Double-A win.

Yard Goats edge Sea Dogs

PORTLAND, Maine — Hartford’s German Marquez limited the Portland Sea Dogs to two runs in 6 ⅔ innings and the Yard Goats won an Eastern League baseball series opener 3-2 on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Marquez walked only one and struck out five.

The Yard Goats struck for the game’s first run in the second inning on an RBI double by Dillon Thomas to score Rosell Herrera. They extended the lead to 2-0 in the third on a dropped pop-up by Aneury Tavarez in left field that allowed Raimel Tapia to score from first base.

Sea Dogs Strike Back with 2-1 Win Over Hartford


Portland, Maine - Nate Freiman hit a two-run homer over the Maine Monster in the bottom of the first inning and the Sea Dogs (17-31) held on to defeat the Hartford Yard Goats (29-18) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

With the bases empty and two down in the bottom of the first, Andrew Benintendi singled to left, then Nate Freiman crushed Kyle Freeland's offering to put Portland ahead 2-0.

Making a spot start, Mitch Atkins (W, 1-1) delivered a season-high six scoreless innings for the Sea Dogs. Atkins allowed just four hits while walking none and striking out a season-high eight batters.

Kyle Freeland (L, 4-5) was making his third start this season against Portland and threw seven innings for the Yard Goats, allowing only the two runs on the homer by Freiman. Freeland allowed eight hits while walking one and striking out four.

Hartford struck for a run in the top of the seventh off of Luis Ysla. After a leadoff triple by Ryan McMahon, Rosell Herrera lined a sac fly to left to cut the Sea Dogs' lead down to 2-1.

Ysla survived two innings, allowing just the run on three hits and three walks while striking out one and stranding four baserunners over the two frames.

Nik Turley pitched the ninth for Portland and was able to work around a leadoff walk and strand the tying run at third to end the ballgame.

The teams face off again tomorrow afternoon at Hadlock Field, first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM. Keith Couch (3-0, 2.08) takes the mound for Portland against Antonio Senzatela (1-1, 2.57) for Hartford. Yard Goats Double Up Sea Dogs 6-3

Portland, Maine - The Hartford Yard Goats (30-18) scored in five of nine innings and defeated the Sea Dogs (17-32) 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

Hartford took the quick lead on back-to-back doubles by Pat Valaika and David Dahl off of Mike McCarthy (L, 0-2) to plate the game's first run.

Making a spot start, McCarthy allowed four runs on eight hits in five innings, walking none and striking out three.

Hartford scored two more runs in the fourth on an RBI triple by Rosell Herrera and an RBI single by Jan Vazquez to make it 3-0.

Portland answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Ryan Court to score Andrew Benintendi, who had tripled, and make it a 3-1 game.

Dahl (4-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, R, BB) reached base five times for Hartford, while Valaika (3-4, 2B, HR, RBI, 3R) finished a triple shy of the cycle.

Antonio Senzatela (W, 2-1) allowed two runs on five hits in 5.2 innings, walking none and striking out four.

Portland struck for two more runs on a two-out, two-run double for Cole Sturgeon off of Shane Broyles. All three Sea Dogs' runs in the game were scored with two outs.

The series finale is tomorrow afternoon at Hadlock Field, first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM. Justin Haley (3-3, 2.68) takes the mound for Portland against Zach Jemiola (4-1, 2.47) for Hartford. PORTLAND, Maine — Justin Haley spun seven innings of one-run ball and the Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Hartford Yard Goats 8-6 on Monday in Eastern League baseball action at Hadlock Field to split the series 2-2.

Portland got off to a hot start as Henry Ramos led off the bottom of the first inning with a triple on the first pitch, then Ryan Court singled up the middle to score Ramos. Jake Romanski hit an RBI single later in the frame to make it 2-0.

The Sea Dogs scored twice in the second thanks to two Yard Goats errors to extend the lead to 4-0.
