Why Bob Uecker, after 45 years, still loves doing Brewers radio


620WTMJ Milwaukee Brewers Hall of Fame radio voice Bob Uecker could retire any time he wants to. After all, he's been in baseball for 60 years, 45 calling Major League Baseball on the radio longer than anyone east of the Mississippi River.

Why does Uecker still do it, at the (reportedly disputed) age of 81?

Simple.

"I enjoy doing it," Uecker told 620WTMJ's Greg Matzek while at spring training.

Uecker, who grew up on Milwaukee's near west side, cites a series of reasons why he continues one of the most legendary careers in sports broadcasting.

One reason: "Working. It keeps you young," he says.
