Ranaudo promoted; Sea Dogs get Hernandez
Anthony Ranaudo heads to Triple-A Pawtucket and Chris Hernandez, a Sea Dog last year, returns.

A day after the Portland Sea Dogs received a top pitching prospect, they lost one.

Right-hander Anthony Ranaudo was promoted Friday to Triple-A Pawtucket, becoming the 13th Sea Dogs player promoted to Triple-A this season.

The right-handed Ranaudo, the No. 6 pitching prospect in the Boston Red Sox minor league system according to Baseball America (14th overall), went 8-5 in 19 starts for Portland with a 2.90 earned-run average, third-best in the Eastern League. He had 106 strikeouts and 40 walks in 1092/3 innings.
