Maybe I am misreading your meaning of durable, but what good is Wake going 8 innings and letting up 8-9 runs?,when Colon may go 6-7 innings and let up 4-5 runs? I would rather have to score 5-6 runs for a win(high % for the Sox) as opposed to having to score 9-10 runs(low %).

My meaning is simply that he has been around for a long time, and eats up a lot of innings. He doesn't always give up 8 or 9 runs (although I admit it seems that way sometimes). I'm not saying he's the guy I'd necessarily want to run out there for a big game, but he's been able to stick in the majors for quite a few years now, which is more than can be said for Colon who had to start the season in AAA. Perhaps the word "dependable" is more accurate....

Another "Hey!,don't forget about me" moment by Colon vs. my Mariners.Granted, his starts haven't been against powerhouse teams, but he is still being very effective.I say it's his spot in the rotation to lose, with Wake or Buch heading to the pen(as of right now,you can flip a coin on that call).

I'd still rather keep the young guy in the rotation and move Wake to the pen...

Buch, Masterson, etc. aren't going to want to wait forever to become regular starters. Shipping Buch to the bullpen right now would be more of a backwards step than a forwards.

I think tonight goes a long way in determining where Wake ends up. If he gets shelled by the M's,he almost certainly gets pen duty.If he shines for 7-8 innings, then young "Buch" gets to join the "band".

I think you may be right on this one. Unfortunately, Seattle will probably have the roof closed and a/c off with Wake pitching. I don't expect this to be a pretty outing for Wake. I would keep him in the rotation for now, but I would do everything possible to not have him start games in domes.

Aren't his career numbers better in domes than outside? Or are those numbers unfailry skewed due to all those starts at Tropicana Field..

You can't count the stats at domes that don't know enough to shut off the a/c. :)

After his start yesterday, time for this bandwagon fan to jump on the Wakefield bandwagon.
