Camden Hills hockey rolls past John Bapst 5-2

BANGOR- Michael Blackwell scored midway through the first period for Camden Hills hockey Tuesday night, and it would be enough momentum to propel the Windjammers to a win.

Camden Hills knocked off John Bapst 5-2 on the road, adding an empty-net goal near the buzzer.

Camden Hills sails in, out of John Bapst with third straight road win
Blackwell nets two goals, Contento, Christie, Lydon one for visitors

...Camden Hills never trailed and led 1-0 after one period, 4-1 after the second and closed its five-goal total with a third-period goal.

Winless John Bapst netted the first goal of the second stanza to tie the score, and added a third-period goal around the midway mark.

“We had a more determined, focused effort from the start than our last game and stayed with it throughout the game,” said Camden Hills coach Karl Enroth.

The Windjammer offense was potent as they registered 38 shots on goal compared to nine for the Crusaders. The Windjammers outshot the hosts 19-2 in the first period and 11-9 in the second, while both teams tallied eight in the final frame.

Camden Hills goalie Matt Czuchra stopped 17 shots in his work between the pipes, as Dan Sprague of John Bapst stopped 33.

“Defenseman Dan Lydon was effective throughout playing a strong game on both ends of the ice for us," Enroth said. "We got key offensive contributions from Michael Blackwell, Sarah Contento, Cam Christie and Ben Wells.”
