Noble joins Marshwood’s co-op boys hockey program

...After six years, Noble dissolved its cooperative team with Wells at the conclusion of last season. At the time, it came as a surprise to hockey parents from both Noble and Wells; neither of whom were given a reason by administration.

Wells has since joined cooperative forces with Kennebunk High School.

Marshwood athletic director Rich Buzzell said adding Noble bolstered a program that was struggling with numbers. Buzzell said it looks like there will be 37 players, 30 between Marshwood and Noble. That will not only allow for a varsity team, but also a JV squad.

That is big, Buzzell said, because in past years, Marshwood not only had low numbers, but also had younger players that coach Eric Royal did not feel comfortable putting on the ice in a varsity situation. Having a JV team remedies that.
