Dave Morris expected to be named Bangor football head coach

BANGOR - One of Bangor's most successful coaches of the past few years is set to take over on the gridiron.

Multiple sources tell ABC 7 and Fox 22 Bangor baseball head coach Dave Morris is set to be offered the vacant head football coach job imminently, possibly as soon as Tuesday morning. Should he accept, Morris would then need to be approved by the school board later in the week.

Morris named new Bangor football coach

... “Coach Morris represents everything good about what high school athletics strives to achieve,” said Bangor athletic administrator Steve Vanidestine. “He gives back more in every relationship he has with the players than he expects to receive and he’s an outstanding role model who helps players understand that helping others get better is one of the the most important tests of building a good team.

“I think his teams over the years have shown that, and his leadership and ability in having kids believe in each other and help each other ends up making better teams that usually go further than the talent they have.”

Morris, who played strong safety and running back at Bangor under current Husson University coach Gabby Price from 1982 through 1984, has been head coach of the city’s eighth-grade football team for the last two seasons after spending the 2015 campaign on Mosca’s high school coaching staff.

Bangor officially names Morris head football coach

BANGOR - As the baseball season kicks into high gear, Bangor High School head coach David Morris learned Wednesday night he'd be taking on even more responsibility.

The Rams officially named Morris head coach of the school's football team, replacing the departed Alan Mosca. ABC 7 and Fox 22 reported in March Morris would be offered and would accept the Bangor football job, with his official confirmation coming Wednesday.
