Maine Elite Passing Camp 2018 (Dates)

Postby Coach Lip » Wed Jan 10, 2018 2:07 pm

Specifics for the Maine Elite Passing Camp this summer:

When: July 9-12, 2018
Where: Cony High School (Augusta, ME)
Who: QB/WR/RB/TE entering grades 9-12
Cost: $175.00

We had a great turnout last year, with lots of competition and exposure for the athletes who participated. College coaches from Colby, Bates, Castleton, Husson and UNE were in attendance and had a chance to speak to the players.

We were also pretty psyched that 4 of the 5 quarterbacks who were Fitzpatrick semifinalists came to camp last summer. There was a ton of talent and we're hoping for an even bigger turnout this summer.

If you have any questions, call 615-4667 or email robert.lippert@augustaschools.org

Day 3 is in the books for the 2018 Maine Elite Passing Camp. After 2 days of grinding through the heat, individual periods, route installations, 1v1's, 7v7's and classroom/film study, we mixed in some combine testing today and we are looking forward to a great finish tomorrow.... completing our week of work, hearing our guest speakers, and handing out our awards for the week. 25 qb's and 45 or so receivers this year. Large contingents from Cony, Leavitt, BE, Oak Hill and Cape. Also have players from Gorham, Messo, MCI, Gardiner, EL, Lewiston, Winthrop, Stearns, Skowhegan, Poland, GNG, and Madison. Also great to have an alum from last year, Grant Hartley, come in to get some work before he heads off to the Lobster Bowl and then the University of Maine. Will post more tomorrow after the conclusion, but congrats to a couple of my Leavitt guys for showing out today....Dasean Calder (jr) won the 1v1 competition and Wyatt Hathaway (soph.) had the top shuttle run.

Great Day 4 to finish camp. A presentation on nutrition to start the day, great indy and classroom sessions, and the last set of 1v1's and 7v7's with coaches from Bates, Husson, Maine Maritime and UNE all in attendance. Always good to see Coach Capone and to hear him speak to the kids. Also big thanks to Liam Hobbins, the DB coach at UNE for being there all week.
Award winners were as follows
Top Gun
Pro division-Gavin Rawstron...Oak Hill...So...Has put on some good size and arm strength since last year. Quick learner with good instincts and accuracy. Did a nice job over the course of the week picking up on option/rpo reads.
College division Hunter Hayes...Leavitt...Fr...Big time arm strength and good size for a freshman. Developing some touch on the shorter stuff and improves each day with decision making. Also was a ball hawk on defense.
Top WR
Pro division-Matt Laughlin...Cape...Jr....Tremendous route runner with very reliable hands. Very effective in the intermediate routes and along the sideline.
College division-Will Carpenter...Cape...So. Ran great routes and found a way to get open all week. Sure hands and was the toughest cover in the 1v1's.
Top Playmaker
Pro division---Matt Wozniak...Cony...Sr...Great kid with a lot of enthusiasm who played both QB and WR during the week and also made some plays on defense. Very versatile player with a high footbal IQ.
College division---Sam Lindsey...Oak Hill...So....Will be a big target for Rawstron this fall. Good size and speed, understands spacing concepts and has sure hands. Catches the ball very well in traffic. Versatile player who can do a lot of things.
Several other players were impressive too.
Grant Hartley had the strong right arm on display that will take on the West in the Lobster Bowl saturday.
Brilliant is a really good wr/db for Bonny Eagle, their QB had a strong arm, and sophomores Emerson-QB and Cawley-WR were both impressive too. Both a little undersized but extremely tough and understand the game.
Bickford-QB and Skolfield-RB from Gorham are 2 freshman that they might be able to build an offense around. Both very athletic, competitive and coachable. Bickford was accurate, got the ball out quick and has a good feel for the game. Skolfield has the size and speed to be a very good tailback. Also liked Caron-WR from Oak Hill in the younger group. Good route runner with soft hands. Driscoll, slot from Leavitt had a good week too. Very fast, quick in and out of breaks and extremely coachable.
Choate from Winthrop has really improved since the beginning of last summer. Won the job at Winthrop and was back again this year to hone his skills. Looks much smoother and more confident.
Downing from Poland is another kid who was really impressive. Great attitude, a quick learner and a passion for the game. Strong arm (he might have won the furthest throw competition) but also a good touch.
The Stearns QB was also impressive. Big arm and got better and better each day. Gotta like his commitment too, coming down and staying for the week.
Cape has a really nice group. Laughlin will be a top tier WR and Convey is a quick, physical slot receiver. They have a couple of other pieces too. Hartel was not there, but their sophomore QB played up in the pro division and was solid.
Cony's skill guys were impressive all week. Its a deep group where you can't really focus on one guy and they have some solid younger guys coming up behind them. The Wozniaks are athletic and tough, Hopkins is a solid WR and Spoensler and Andow both showed potential as QB's.
For Leavitt, Hathaway-soph. QB also played with Rawstron in the Pro division and was one of the top QB's all week. Smaller, but strong arm, quick feet and good instincts. As a group our skill guys had a great week. The 2 big TE's Jordan and Morin were both in consideration for end of week awards, they are big athletic targets who catch it well in traffic. the Calder twins (slots) have great speed and are tough after the catch. Herman (slot), was only there two days but ran one of the fastest 40's and uses his speed well to get open. He is really quick in and out of his breaks. Shaw and Melanson our WR's also were very solid. Improved route runners with consistent hands. As a group these guys have really put in some work and improved over the offseason.
