I'll give a shout out to that TV crew. Rainy and cold at Fitzpatrick, but I got to sit back on my couch warm and dry and watch a free high school championship football game tonight on cable while enjoying a couple of cheap beers.

Pretty damn nice.

I thought the TV coverage was fantastic over the weekend.

Ditto. The WABI TV5 production of the state games is excellent.

WABI is handcuffed in their production by the reality that there are no TV timeouts, and they have to fit in their commercials. And before anyone comes back with "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!!", you're not going to have anyone give up 8-10 hours of airtime and pay a rights fee--even on a Saturday--without sponsorship. Sponsors need their commercials aired.

From what I understand, they got a lot better quickly getting in and out of breaks so not as much was missed as the day went on.

But trust me, this can be harder than it looks/sounds and takes some getting used to for the broadcasters.

They actually did have a few tv timeouts...although I think a couple of times the officials may have missed when they wanted to take one

We are extremely lucky to have the coverage we do for our State H.S. football championships. With the economy being what it is here in Maine,I feel WABI does a fantastic job with their coverage of these games. So here's a big shout out to all the people who work together to make this happen! THANK-YOU
