Oceanside puts up tough fight against Winslow
Mariners cannot come up with 'perfect' game, but played well against Black Raiders

...The squads were tied 7-7 after the first quarter, while Winslow took a 14-7 lead at halftime and held a one-score lead —21-14 — after three quarters.

“I thought we played well against a tough opponent,” said Drinkwater. “We had some unfortunate breaks and didn’t handle their power game as well as we could have. But overall we did a lot of good things.”

One of those good things was the two-headed running back duo of Mike Norton Jr. and Ben Ripley, who continued to rack up yards on the ground en masse as they have all season.

Norton rushed for 123 yards on 11 carries and a pair of touchdowns, while he also hauled in a 10-yard catch. Ben Ripley also rushed for 115 yards on 11 carries.

Norton has rushed for more than 1,000 yards on the season at 1,088 on 91 carries, while Ripley has 910 yards on 88 carries.

Mike Yates (18 rushes on 4 carries), Titus Kaewthong (6-yard TD run) and Jack Freeman (2 catches for 23 yards) also chipped in on offense for Oceanside.

Quarterback Kaewthong was 3-of-6 for the Mariners.
