PPH roundup from 9/16

Fryeburg moves to 3-0 in football , 48-6 over Poland
Jared Chisari and Cody Gullikson each score two touchdowns in the Raiders' 48-6 victory over Poland. FRYEBURG — Jared Chisari raced for touchdowns of 48 and 45 yards and Fryeburg Academy remained undefeated with a 48-6 win over Poland in an interclass football game Saturday afternoon. The Raiders (3-0), one of two unbeaten teams in Class C South, opened a 34-0 lead in the first half. Oscar Saunders ran for one touchdown and threw to Caleb Eklund for another to help build the lead, and Cody Gullikson powered in for the first of his two touchdowns. The Class D Knights (0-3) broke through late in the second quarter on Zach Cote’s 25-yard run, but Gullikson tacked on his second TD just before halftime to make it 41-6. Caleb Bowles scored the only touchdown of the second half on a 27-yard run.

Speed, yes, at any level 457 yards rushing in a game is incredible...Winslow running backs are powerful and explosive, QB Gagnon is a threat to run and pass. The BIG Winslow line is good, too, as you know. Class C? Thanks to Munzing Media, been able to see MDI, Winslow, Gardiner twice, Cape, and Leavitt. I agree, not much to choose between top 4 or 5 in Class C. Haven't seen Fryburg yet though. A Leavitt-Winslow state C final would be a good one.

Dating back to the '40's at Gardiner, the Hersom family has be the strongest football family in Maine. Coach John Hersom and his staff are doing a great job bringing Lawrence along this year. The Lawrence kids are putting in the work too. The trip to South Berwick will be a big challenge for Lawrence. Keys for Lawrence: Discipline, quick to football, gang tackling, limit big plays by Marshwood.

Lawrence has a strong core of senior leaders, Lawrence has a good group of juniors and sophs. Freshman and 8th graders are talented. Good coaching and talent in PAL youth program. Future looks bright for Lawrence football.

Marshwood and Lawrence, two storied programs in Maine...should be a good night of football in South Berwick.

Dirigo started three freshmen in the 21-12 loss vs Spruce Mtn. Cole Brown the number three QB for the undermanned Cougars stepped in and did an outstanding job. Looking forward to watching him progress. Liam Burnett and Dallas Berry also freshmen, both did a very good job.
