Brunswick Dragons back on the field
Defending State Class B champions hit the field

...This year’s team is far different than the one fans have become accustomed to. Cooper saw more than 20 seniors from last year’s squad graduate, leaving a young team behind. But, the coach was excited to see a team determined to build its own legacy.

“We have some kids that are nervous, knowing that this is their time to shine, and others are kind of in a fog, not knowing exactly what to expect,” said Cooper. “But, there were many others out here that know the routine. One thing is for sure ... they are all ready to go. We are excited to see what this team can do.”

Brunswick returns just seven seniors this season. Players like linemen Bailey Pelletier and Elijah Gagnon were important parts of last year’s championship squad and both are looking for more this time around

With Rogers, Hampden Academy football confident in ability to grow

HAMPDEN - As former Husson football star Shane Rogers takes over as head coach over at Hampden Academy, he does so understanding it may take some time to get acclimated with the Broncos.

"This is what every football coach goes through around this time," Rogers said Monday. "Learning new players, putting in new systems, doing a lot of different things. And everything is super new."

Rogers was an impact-making defensive end for the Eagles, before heading over to the sidelines to coach under Gabby Price. While under Price's tutelage, he learned a variety of lessons he's attempting to integrate into his every day coaching style at Hampden, which is just the beginning of a long process.

New coach aims to reverse Noble’s fortunes

... Snapshot: Smith is the program's fifth coach in seven years for a program that has missed the playoffs 10 straight seasons. He'd like to change that. ... A new spread offense should make the Knights exciting. A key will be how a strong core of younger players, particulary sophomores, adapt to the rigors of Class B. ... Seniors John Grenier (HB) and Hil Keisker (QB), and junior Bryson Lessard (HB) are proven offensive skill players. ... A big key will be how Noble attacks its opener against Gray-New Gloucester next Friday. ... "One reason I was hired as coach was my vision for the team," Smith said. "We're creating a different culture and team here. We're keeping the traditions, but bringing a new style that is sorely needed."
