SJ Monday Morning Quarterback 9/25:

- Vikings hope to fix mistakes as tough schedule continues
The offensive woes and penalties that mired the Oxford Hills Vikings in losses to Edward Little and Lewiston can't continue in next Saturday's homecoming date with Windham. A loss to the Eagles would mean one against each of the teams they are chasing in the Class A North standings with back-to-back games against A South powers Thornton Academy and Scarborough to start October.

- Steady Eddies on defense

- Rebels put heat on (Telstar) Raiders ... nues/22055

SJ Head to Head: Mid-season progress report

...Randy: B North is almost as much of a toss-up as A North. Marshwood and Kennebunk have separated themselves in B South.

Leavitt has emerged as the favorite in C South, but Fryeburg showed last week they can hang with the Hornets. Even in a loss, the Raiders had to come away with a big confidence boost going forward.

As for the Hornets, they've got a couple of more tests coming up against Cape Elizabeth and at MDI. It seems like more and more of their offensive weapons emerge each week, which will help them in those games and the playoffs.

Gardiner is 1-3 but No. 3 in the Heals, which, based on what I've seen, isn't far off from where it should be. The Tigers are better than their record. Cape trails them by percentage points in fourth despite beating Gardiner.

C North looks like Winslow and MDI again. Not sure if the folks up there have had enough of that matchup but that's probably what they're going to get. ... rt/2207646

SJ Monday Morning Quarterback 10/2/17:

Bailey stands tall for Raiders

Can't stay blue
Lewiston still has time to bounce back from its second loss of the season, a 19-18 gut punch at Deering's Memorial Field.

Vikings take a break with South
That win was even more vital for the Vikings because they are going on a two-week hiatus from the North. The next game is against Class A South power Thornton Academy, which will be anxious to put its 49-14 loss to Bonny Eagle behind it. After that, the Vikings have arguably a tougher test the following week at Scarborough. The Red Storm's only loss was a close one to Thornton, 32-28. ... rs/2209511

Sophomore QB showing poise under center; Cony lands gut-check win over Brewer.
...“His footwork is extremely good now,” St. Hilaire said. “He has worked so hard to improve his footwork so his feet are angled in the throw the way they need to be. … He’s just an incredibly hard worker, and when he makes mistakes, he wants to not only correct it but he wants to rep it until he can’t get it wrong.”

- Cony scored another big win Friday night.
