York’s Simpson concludes stellar career at Merrimack

Taylor Simpson first picked up a field hockey stick as an eighth grade student at York Middle School.

Nine years later, Simpson is leaving Merrimack College as one of the program’s all-time leading scorers.

“Sadly, it’s over,” Simpson said shortly after Merrimack lost to LIU post in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Conference tournament. “This sport has been a huge part of my life. It’s going to be difficult to move on knowing I can’t competitively play again.”

Simpson had 12 goals and eight assists this season for Merrimack, which went 11-7 overall and 7-5 conference play.

Simpson leaves as the Warriors’ fourth all-time leading point scorer with 46 goals and 23 assists for 115 career points.
