York’s Marois reaches historic milestone

... She was the fourth coach in four years for the seniors of that team.

“I knew I would be teaching for a while, but I wasn’t sure about the coaching part,” Marois said. “I knew I liked the challenge of coaching and liked the challenge of getting something started and establishing something. I wanted the girls to have some consistency because I knew the girls in recent years didn’t have that; I was hoping to be there to provide some of that consistency.”

One thing Marois has been in the past 17 years is consistent, guiding the Wildcats to 11 regional championships and four state championships.

And last Wednesday, a 1-0 win at Fryeburg Academy, Marois walked off the field with her 250th career win.

“I wasn’t aware of that,” Marois said after being told of her milestone victory. “I guess it’s not something I really think about. I am more interested in the day-to-day things that happen over the course of the season and the process with whatever team I am working with at the time. I am more about the present than the past.” ... -milestone
