Courtney Veinotte Named Coach for USA Field Hockey's AAU J.O. Games

DETROIT, MI (WABI) - USA Field Hockey is hosting the AA Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, Michigan at the end of the month. Former Skowhegan and UMaine player turned coach, Courtney Veinotte, has been selected as one of the 8 coaches for the event. She is now associate head coach at Hofstra. The J.O. tournament is for U16 level players who were selected earlier in the summer. Smithfield's Josie Varney and Skowhegan's Maliea Kelso were picked to compete.

Skowhegan's Hannah McKenney also selected for the Junior Olympics.

Skowhegan field hockey duo headed to Junior Olympic Games

...And the Maine Sports Hall of Fame coach said the Indians will have “our best midfield in a real long time” this coming fall.

That’s because two of her midfielders, Maliea Kelso, who will be a junior, and incoming freshman Hannah McKenney, have been selected to compete in the Junior Olympics Games in Beverly Hills, Michigan, from July 31-Aug. 3.

The Junior Olympics are for Under-16 year-old players and Kelso and McKenney were chosen based on their performances at the National Futures Tournament. There will be 128 players from across the country at the Games.
