Haley Lowell named Miss Maine Field Hockey

Miss Maine Field Hockey finalists announced
Haley Lowell of Messalonskee and Sydney Meader of Boothbay are the candidates for this year's award.

Haley Lowell of Messalonskee High in Oakland and Sydney Meader of Boothbay have been named finalists for the Miss Maine Field Hockey award, given to the state’s top senior player.

Lowell, a midfielder who has committed to Boston University, recorded seven goals, three assists and one defensive save this season.

Meader, a forward who has committed to the University of Maine, scored 38 goals and added three assists. She finished her career with a school-record 86 goals.

The winner will be announced at the Maine Field Hockey Association banquet on Dec. 3 at the Augusta Civic Center.

The MFHA will also induct two members into its Hall of Fame: Madeleine Goulet, the former Biddeford High coach who led the Tigers to their only Class A state championship in 1990; and Lisa Densmore, a former player at Gardiner High and UMaine.

Boothbay Region, Messalonskee seniors are Miss Maine Field Hockey finalists

Boothbay Region High School forward Sydney Meader, who shattered her own single season scoring record this fall, and Messalonskee High School midfielder Haley Lowell, who led the Eagles to another Class A North championship game appearance, are the finalists for the Miss Maine Field Hockey Award.

The Miss Maine Field Hockey Award goes to the state’s top senior and the winner will be announced at a banquet at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Augusta Civic Center.

Meader, who will play at the University of Maine in the fall, had set the school mark with 24 goals in 2016 but scored 35 this past fall to go with two assists.

She concluded her exceptional career with a school-record 83 goals along with 17 assists.

Haley Lowell named Miss Maine Field Hockey recipient
Messalonskee senior recognized as top senior player in the state.

...Lowell, a Boston University commit, scored seven goals and added three assists for the Eagles. She also had one defensive save.

Lowell finished her standout career with 34 goals, 23 assists and three defensive saves.

The Maine Field Hockey Association also inducted two members into its Hall of Fame, including former Gardiner and UMaine standout Lesa Densmore.

Former Biddeford coach Madeleine Goulet was also inducted.
