Class C prelims

Postby dukefan » Tue Feb 06, 2018 1:33 pm

I guess I am drawing a blank or just getting old, But I thought that teams in number 1 thru 4 got byes in the prelims? Is that so? Or is it just the 2 top teams. Thanks for your insight, See you in Bangor. :)

It would have to be two teams getting a bye. With the 2/3 rule you have 14 teams eligible for tourny play. you have to get it down to 8 for Bangor. The only combo that works with 14 teams. 2 get a bye leaves 12 teams left. that leaves 6 teams advancing to make it 8 total. No other combo works.

I guess its because Houlton and Central came back to C we now have 20 teams and with the heal points system it is figured that 67% percent of the teams make the post season so when they tacked the extra two spots to the end they took away 2 byes. https://www.mpa.cc/index.php/interschol ... int-system

The heal rankings seem out of whack this year to the eye test. Last I looked Central Aroostook was 3 or4 spots ahead of Central, but Central seemed like a far better team. And as Dukefan said Calais is barely ahead of Hodgdon but is a better team then that.

So true. Cape and Yarmouth both won 6 games this year cape crushed sacoppe valley and sacoppe may get in with 3 wins against east gate christian and nya twice while cape beat yarmouth, waynflete, fryburg, falmouth, sacopee and westbrook. It is what it is. Weak schedules can help you with heals if you play a D thats going to win 10 games you get more points then playing an A that gets say 3 wins even though the A with 3 wins is 20 or more points better then the D school.

it seems to be that way in C this year in the north in both boys and girls. There are some teams up in the standings who are not nearly the caliber of some of the teams below them. Oh well, that is how the schedule thing makes things play out.

2/3rds of the team make it in the other class, several will be below 500. If you don't make it then you really aren't that good.
