Her hard work and tenacious play has paid off. Great school to attend.

SP girls' hoops standout Eva Mazur commits to Saint Anselm

...“This is really exciting,” said Mazur, who spent her freshman and sophomore years playing at McAuley before returning to her hometown as a junior. “I visited (Saint Anselm) and I loved the campus and the team. That got me really excited for my future. I want to be a good teammate and go and have a good attitude. This has been a goal of mine for so long and I’m finally here. Having family here means so much. I’ve always appreciated their support. I’ve had amazing coaches and my teammates have been so good to me. I’m looking forward to the season. I want to win a Gold Ball.

South Portland varsity coach Lynne Hasson feels that Mazur has what it takes to do well at the next level.

Congrats to Eva and her family. Well deserved - you earned every bit of this.

This makes me especially happy for 3 reasons:
1. She is my neighbor
2. She is a Red Riot
3. My wife and I are St. Anselm graduates

I love the school 'on the Hilltop'.

Doesn't get any better than the NE-10 at the DII level.

So glad to see some many local girls already playing in the NE-10 (Lux, Briggs, Shaw, Holmes, & more) and then the next wave - Glidden, Poulin, Bouchard and perhaps more to come.

Congrats again Eva - looking forward to a great season of Red Riots' Girls Basketball.

Just a great conference. I was so proud that Jaci Storey walked on frosh year. Not recruited. 1/2 then full boat last three years. Captain last year as a senior. These coaches see the hard work Maine kids are willing to put in. I wish we had a D2 school in Maine.
