Late run makes difference for Scarborough
Sophie Glidden scores 20 points for the Red Storm, who close with a 22-9 run to beat Maine Girls' Academy.

Sophie Glidden of Scarborough sent a clear message Thursday night: She’s emerged as one of the most complete girls’ basketball players in Class AA South.

Glidden, a junior guard/forward, scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, as the undefeated Red Storm thundered to a 45-32 victory against Maine Girls’ Academy.

“She can pretty much do anything,” said Scarborough Coach Mike Giordano. “The piece she’s added to her game this year is the perimeter game. She was always a slasher and now you have to defend her on the 3-point line, and if you don’t she’s going to stick them in your face. And if you run at her she’s going to go right by.”
