Re: 8th Annual Noonan Nation Tournament.. June 21-23, St. Jo

Postby bcbc55 » Sun Jun 02, 2019 11:57 pm

TOM: Thanks for posting the rosters and schedule of this outstanding basketball event which is one of the most, if not the most talented basketball event held in Maine each year.

I can vouch for the talent level as when the years it was held at Bangor High School his high school, alma mater I got all the officials to volunteer to officiate the games. I was there for every game each year it was at Bangor High. Bangor High School basketball Teammate Luke Hetterman did an outstanding job in starting and organizing this event for the years it was held the first year at UMaine because of a scheduling conflict at Bangor High and the 5 years at Bangor High until it moved to St. Joe's last June for the first time.

I was always really impressed that teams made up of former St.Joe's teams traveled up to the event in Bangor. They always represented themselves and St. Joe's so well.

It is excellent that St. Joe's has taken over running this first class event to honor the memory of Clarke who was a outstanding student and basketball player at St. Joe's.

I got to know Clarke personally as I gave him shooting lessons during the spring of his junior year at Bangor High.

He was an outstanding student, extremely coachable and wanted to improve, which he did. Really improved his shooting from the spring of his junior year to his senior year.

As an excellent student and basketball player that Clarke was, he was an even greater human being.

I really appreciate St. Joe's taking this great event over as it is very appropriate seeing he is a former student and basketball player at St. Joe's. I want to thank all the people involved in putting on this great event as I know how many people and what it takes in effort to put on this event.

The excellent outdoor basketball court built on the St. Joe's campus in memory and honor of Clarke just shows how much the people at St. Joe's thought of him.

I also am very familiar with the excellent basketball facility at St. Joe's as I reffed many a St. Joe's men's basketball games from 2004 to 2014. Always looked forward to coming to St. Joe's as was always treated first class.

Good luck with this great event again this June and a big thank you to all the people involved to bring the most talented basketball event in Maine to the greater Portland area from Bangor. It really and truly belongs at St. Joe's.
