Two boys basketballs can fit side-by-side through the hoop, therefore two girls basketballs can also since they're smaller. Next question.

"lovethegame": 2 boys basketballs will not go completely thru the rim as they will sit side-by-side half way thru the rim and have to be pushed thru to go thru. 18 inches diameter of rim and 2 basketballs 2 X 9 inches in diameter=18 inches in diameter. 2 boys basketballs are a tie.

Try it by getting a ladder and try putting 2 boys basketballs thru the rim at the same time side by side.

Ehhh.....tomato, tomato. Drop them through or push them through. They fit and that's all I care about.

"lovethegame": Ehhh...potato, potato. How many shots from the foul line by 2 foul shooters would it take for 2 boys basketballs to pass through the rim side by side at the very exact same time???????????

It is mathematically possible, but highly improbable. That is my point that he target is twice as big (and stationary) as the object you are trying to put thru it.

Could never get 2 boys basketballs to pass thru the rim side by side at the same exact time even when having someone hold the unattached basket and then try to drop the 2 basketballs down thru the rim (from 3 feet above the rim straight down) so that they went thru at the same exact time side by side. One either bounced out or one went thru first and the other went thru second never at the same exact time because if they did go thru to top half of the rim at the same time side by side they would get stuck together against the rim. Then we would push them thru.

Besides measuring the height of the rim and foul shot distance, Gene Hackman should of done the two balls thru the hoop in Hooosiers!
