Tom: Enjoyed both MBR-BABC Games today!

Postby bcbc55 » Sat Mar 31, 2018 6:27 pm

Enjoyed the two all-star games today. Thanks for streaming them and I enjoyed your back and forth with your partner. Interesting to learn about the Maine players that I don't get to see very much up here in the sticks.

Too bad Matt Fleming and the other two players couldn't make it, but you can't be in two places at the same time and I undrstand their loyalty to their club team.

When you mentioned the Old St. Joe's gym it brought back some great officiating memories for me as I used to go down their and work the USM-St. Joe's games at both sites with a fellow from Rumford. Joey Bouchard was coaching at USM and Rick Simonds was at St. Joe's. It was a tough place to ref at that old St. Joe's gym especially back them when there were just 2 officials. I reffed in the facility you were at today and that was as different as night and day.

Did that for several years in a row with the same ref from Rumford area as I guess both schools wanted refs that were not from the greater Portland area for that big rivalry.

Again appreciate all you have done over the years with MBR for basketball here in Maine especially at the high school level.

Scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest I rated your MBR broadcast and games a NINE..............TEEN.

Agreed with what has been said above. Thanks Tom for putting on this great event for the young athletes! Rosters passed out for free. Was impressed with the team coming down from Boston as all I can say is WOW! They have some athletes that will get some college exposure for sure.

Liked in the 2018 game what I saw from Moss going up against Goodine commit for Syracuse. It was good for him to get challenged and it will only better him off in the long run. He will do very well at the University Of Maine and will make an impact right away. Schildroth who I believe is uncomitted right now, will get some looks as he can score it from anywhere. He had a great game. Godfrey and Marsielle as well 2 athletes who can score it. They will get some looks as well. Gilman had a good game he can shoot it from anywhere on the court. I believe he is going too Thomas. Was wondering who the Mass and Rhode Island kids were. Manoogian will do very well at Saint Joes in his Freshman year, as he has a great Basketball IQ and knows the game very well. Was wondering where Curtis was as believe he is going to Saint Joes as well. Would've been cool for Coach Sanacolia to see Foley Manoogian and Curtis play today.

2019/2020 Observations. MBR team didn't have an answer, like I said both of these BABC teams had great athletes all over the court. The players who impressed me the most on this MBR team. The Varney kid from Hermon who I believe is only a Sophmore. He can score and is a great inside presence and can play deffense and rebound the ball. He's only a Sophmore but this kid has a bright future. Ben Onek played both ends of the floor really well today. Took at strong right at these kids today. He can shoot it from anywhere and you can put him inside. He will be a stud next year. College coaches will want to jump on this kid asap! Lovejoy can shoot it from anywhere on the court. He is a great player who will be very good next year. Germain from a Deering and Hussein from Wayneflete only Sophmores but have bright futures for both their squads. It was good for all of these kids to be exposed to good competition to help their games for next year. Was disappointed that Fiorillo, Flemming, and Maiwen didn't show. But I get that they were playing for their AAU team as all 3 are on the same team. If those 3 were there, all 3 of them could've made a huge impact as these 3 will be game changers to their squads next year as Seniors. College Coaches will be jumping on these 3 as well.
