Thornton Academy Middle School boys basketball tops Biddeford 41-25 at XL Sports World today. Blaine Buda leads all scorers with 15 points. Ethan LeBlanc chips in 8 while Owen Critchley and Mason Collins score 7 apiece.

Sedgwick Middle School and BBN 8th grader Andrew Rideout scored 46 point today. Knocking down 10 3s to help his team get a 7 point win in a back and forth game. BBN Family keep putting in that work young fella!

CMS boys conclude hoop season

The Caribou Middle School eighth-grade boys’ basketball team wrapped up its season Dec. 15, finishing with a 4-7 record.

The Vikings were led offensively by Michael Brigman, who averaged 20 points per game, with Ari Plante also averaging double figures at 10 ppg. Plante led the team in 3-point field goals made with 13, with both Brigman and Alex Levesque netting 12 from long range.

Steve Perreault completed his 37th season as coach of the team.

.... The following is a recap of recently-reported results:

Boys basketball

Oceanside 8th 49, Great Salt Bay 36

At Thomaston Jan. 10, the Mariners netted a 13-point win over the Cougars. The squads were tied 8-8 after the first quarter, while Great Salt Bay led 17-15 at halftime. Oceanside led 32-28 after three quarters.

Mike Sawyer scored 23 points for Oceanside, while Austin Chilles added six; Brady Marchessault, six; Hunter Norton, five; Bodhi Ames, four; Noah Ross, three; and Jacob Carroll, two.

Gavin Doloff scored 14 points for Great Salt Bay, while Nick Prior added 13; Cedar Cannon, five; Cooper Waltz, three; and Cam Bragg and Will Farrell, two.

The Mariners were 19-of-27 (70 percent) from the foul line, while the Cougars were 8-of-18 (44 percent).

Busline League large school teams shoot in to playoff-mode
Final regular-season standings, postseason pairings listed

With the small school division winding to a close and the large school having wrapped its final regular-season games, there will be no shortage of high-quality Busline League middle school basketball action on the court in the coming days — including battles for championships.

The large school division wrapped its regular season and the single-elimination playoffs were slated to begin on Monday, Jan. 22. The championship games will be on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Camden-Rockport Middle School, with title games at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The small school division is expected to wrap its regular season on Monday, Jan. 29, with the championship games to be on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Lincolnville Central School. Those final title games will be 10 a.m. and noon.
