Early Season Prediction

North
GSA looks for three in a row led by Shildroth and Mattson

South Top 5
1. Hall Dale - Loaded with talent. Is this the year. All 5 starters back and deep bench from team that went 14-6 last year. Need to prove they can win the big game. Team has looked impressive in preseason playing competitive basketball against larger schools such as Portland, Bangor and Cony.
2. Waynflete - Led by super sophomore point guard. Talent will need to blend in as team for a big run.
3. Winthrop - Big graduation losses from State Finals Team. Can they fill the scoring and leadership void with the loss of Hickey. Not sure if great defense will be enough this season
4. Richmond - Team still has one of the top players in Small. Lack of depth could hurt them this year. They have joined the MVC so don't look for 17-1 record this year
5. Dirigo - Return the entire roster from last season. Poised to be in the playoff mix by end of the season. Not sure if they have the team speed to compete with some of the top teams in the south.

C south is a one horse race. All teams but one are playing for a spot in the south final. Because that's as far as they will get. Mark my words, one horse race.

Hall-Dale: lots of talent back, should put up a lot of points and be the favorite
Richmond: two players against everyone else, but a good two players. Can finally prove themselves against class c competition in the regular season
Boothbay: well coached, Ames is a hard working player
Waynflete: always seems to be in the mix, possible semifinal team
Dirigo: bounce back year very possible
OOB: Regan will have them in the mix
Winthrop: good depth, should contend

Guessing NYA and Madison are teams that take steps back this year.

Can anyone knock off GSA in the North?

GSA visits Hall Dale on Friday. Great preseason match up of two of the more talented teams in Class C.

Houlton** They have been in "re-building" mode the past two seasons in Class B.
Now with some talent, a good coach, and moving to class C, look for Houlton late in the year
