Tough ending to watch the PI at Ellsworth game last evening, as Griffin Guerrette got a technical foul in third period, got taken out of the game, and fueled Ellsworth to come from behind for the win, 61-57. PI does not have the big offensive weapon inside when they need to score when Guerrette is sitting...as was shown last night. Tough loss for PI, but Coach Cummings made a point to his whole team that it shall not be tolerated.

givengo: I watched the game on line, tough situation, but it was a big positive to see a coach "Teach a life Lesson" as more important than winning. Not only did the PI team learn a life lesson, but so did all the people in the gym and watching on line saw a coach do the right thing at the right time for the right reasons. How many times do you see that done today in our so liberal society?

Hats off and congratulations to Coach Cummings for having such a rule and following it to the letter of the rule at the expense of losing a game.

Well done Terry.

P.S. I wonder how many other coaches in Maine have that as a rule when a player gets a technical foul.

There have been several games this year in Maine HS basketball where a player got a technical for unsportsmanlike behavior and the player was taken out when it happened, but put back in, in a couple of minutes. What's learned from that?

Certainly hope that there were no instances happened where the player wasn't even taken out of the game for a technical foul for unsportmanlike behavior.

NOTHING IS LEARNED FROM THAT. COACHES NOT DOING THEIR JOBS IN EITHER CASE AND PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE BACKED IF THEY HAD DONE WHAT COACH CUMMINGS DID.

Maine needs more Terry Cummings coaching in the state.

#1 Hermon (14-0) at #2 MDI (11-2) 7pm game time... one of the toughest places to get a W, will be quite a test for both squads.

"Hozball22": Why? Just because their is a lot of room between the baskets and the stage on one end and the wall on the other end. When I was coaching at Bapst I found the coach of MDI, Will Jones) the toughest thing about playing at MDI, same could be said for Coach Norwood for the boys and Coach Barker for the girls team now. That is what I would agree with about why MDI is one of the toughest places to play. Nice court with plenty of room and crowd is a little farther from court away then most H.S. gyms.
