Should be a fun two days of Basketball at Dirigo High School

Cougar Classic
Basketball Tournament

July 14th
10:00 Oak Hill vs Dirigo
11:10 Oak Hill vs Mt Blue
12:20 Buckfield vs Wiscasset
1:20 Mt Blue vs Dirigo
2:30 Wiscasset vs Dirigo 2
3:40 Buckfield vs Dexter
4:40 Orono vs Dirigo 2
6:00 Orono vs Dexter

Playoff Seeds:
At halftime of each game on Friday will be a 3 Point shootout. We will use these scores as tiebreakers for team seeding.
You are not allowed to play a team in Round 1 that you played on Friday though. A team might switch one spot to make sure this does not happen.

July 15th

8:30 Number 4 Seed vs Number 5 Seed

9:30 Number 1 Seed vs Number 8 Seed

10:30 Number 3 Seed vs Number 6 Seed

11:30 Number 2 Seed vs Number 7 Seed

12:30 Winner of game 1 vs Winner of game 2

3:00 Championship Game

Day One:

Dirigo over Oak Hill 66-40
Mt Blue over Oak Hill 53-35
Buckfield over Wiscasset 66-55
Dirigo over Mt Blue 67-37
Dirigo 2 over Wiscasset 64-48
Dexter over Buckfield 74-36
Orono over Dirigo 2 69-45
Orono over Dexter 47-38

Single elimination tomorrow

8:30 Mt Blue vs Buckfield
9:30 Orono vs Wiscasset
10:30 Dexter vs Oak Hill
11:40 Dirigo 1 vs Dirigo 2

Semis at 12:45 and 1:45
Championship game at 3:00

Orono: Looked very good in their two games. Have a really good mix of inside and outside threats. They were led today by Junior big man Connor Robertson. Freshman Zach Dill also had a big offensive night hitting 3's and getting to the rim.

Dirigo: Had a very well balanced scoring attack with many players making big shots and defending very well. Cooper Chiasson was tough to stop from the inside and outside in both games.

Dexter: Moves the ball very well getting good looks on every possession. They also had a very well balanced scoring attack with a number of players contributing. They will be a very tough team in day 2.

Mt. Blue: Played very hard on both ends. They were led by senior James Anderson who can get to the rim at all times.

Buckfield: Were very scrappy today. They had two keys players who played well. Zach Grover shot the ball well and can score in a variety of ways and Ethan Jackson was a beast on the boards all day.

Oak Hill: Were led by the shooting of Cohen Donnell today who hit a number of tough shots. They are athletic inside and has the chance to make some noise tomorrow.

Dirigo 2: Played very well today going 1-1 with a group of young players. They played tough defensively and passed the ball well and made each other better.

Wiscasset: Were missing some of their veteran players, but played hard all day. They were led by the shooting of their Freshman guard.

Playoffs:

Mt.Blue over Buckfield

Mt Blue shot the ball really well to win the first game of the day.

Dexter over Oak Hill by 12

Orono over Wiscasset by 15

Dirigo 1 over Dirigo 2

Semis:

Orono over Mt Blue by 15 in a well played physical game where both teams got after it. Orono's big men proved to be to much.

Dirigo over Dexter 7

Well played game that was within 2 points in the last few minutes

Championship Game:

Dirigo over Orono in a great game. Dirigo played great defense especially on the Orono bigs. Orono is a excellent team. Chase Clark hit a three with 2 minutes left to put the Cougars up by 6 and they were able to hang on.

All-Stars:

Nate Richards Dexter Point Guard does a great job of making others better.

James Anderson Mt Blue: Very athletic on both ends and scored a lot of points over the weekend.

Connor Robertson Orono: Had a dominating weekend. Scored over 25 points in 4 out of 5 of his games. Can score in a variety of ways in the post.

Luke Lueders Dirigo: Plays Point for Dirigo and controls the pace for the game. Played great defense all weekend and saved his best offensive game for the championship.

Cooper Chiasson Dirigo: Has had a great summer and continued by scoring from everywhere all weekend. Shoots the ball very well and has improved every aspect of his game.
