Lots of big time talent in N.E. .....

ZG Finals - Saturday Recap

More than 700 teams flocked to the greater Boston area for the annual Zero Gravity National Finals. As most teams progressed though pool play on Saturday to see who will earn their way to bracket play on Sunday afternoon, the following players stood out:

Akok Akok (Mass Rivals, 2019)- Akok showed the same improved range on his jump shot throughout the day that he did during the month of April. Defensively, opposing drivers had no way to avoid the long & athletic big man standing in their way. Potential is starting to turn into production, and he is poised to be one of the most followed 2019 prospects in the region once the live period kicks off next month.

Cole Swider (BABC, 2018)- Swider's improved athleticism is one key reason why his recruitment has elevated itself even past what it was with his recent Duke offer. He lead BABC to big wins, as his confidence rubs off on his teammates. He was knocking down shots all over the court & getting out and running in transition.

BLUE WAVE Basketball : Boys Recap of Zero Gravity Nationals:

There are 3 divisions when entering this National tournament D1 (Top Division) D2 (Middle Division) D3 (Lower Division)
Blue Wave boys finish with a combined record of 14 wins and 15 losses. We had 6 teams competing in Division 1 while 2 competed in Division 2!

D1 Division: Blue Wave Elite 4th Bedard went 4-1 (only Loss was to National Champs Indiana Elite). Without a doubt the best 4th grade team in New England and they will only get better.

D1 Division: Blue Wave Elite 5th Johnson went 1-2. This team will only get better in the years to come!

D1 Division: Blue Wave Elite 6th Pilsbury went 3-2. After winning their pool and being without a key player they lost to a thought team10 squad from CT. The talent this team has is unreal and a dominant force in New England.

D2 Division: Blue Wave Elite 7th Voisine went 3-2. As their first year together this team shows flashes of greatness and will continue to get better over time.

D2 Division: Blue Wave Elite 8th Lindsey went 1-2. This squad could have easily been 2-1 in pool play but lost a tough game to Game 7 out of NY by only 2pts. The future is bright for this group with the additions they have added.

D1 Division: Blue Wave Elite 9th Smith went 2-1. This team is loaded with weapons on the perimeter and will continue to improve!

D1 Division: Blue Wave Elite 10th Voisine went 1-2. Talk about a tough pool bracket, they faced NE Elite and National Power BABC in their first 2 games coming up short on both and winning their last game against a very good Canadian team.

D1 Division: Blue Wave Elite 11th Pilsbury went 0-3. While only having 6 and then 5 players and missing key players in games they battled with some of New England's best programs.

The time and dedication from parent's, players and coaches are what makes our program successful and able to compete with top programs outside of Maine. With the success of our program comes new opportunities and I have been approached with a huge opportunity that will benefit our kids and program starting in the Fall! #gamechanger
We look forward to concentrating on our high school boys teams as they enter July "live" NCAA recruiting period. This summer should be a big noise maker as they head to Springfield(MA) Manheim(PA) and Orlando(FL) to compete against the best and showcase their talents in front of college coaches.

Thank you to all the players parents and coaches for another great Spring/Summer season!

ZG Finals - Varsity Division Recap

With pool play concluding in the morning, bracket play began in all age groups on Sunday afternoon throughout southeast Massachusetts. More than 700 teams were narrowed down a handful of teams who won their pool, and the following navigated the talent-filled playoff field & earned the right to be crowned Zero Gravity National Champions on Sunday afternoon.

In the varsity division, the quarterfinals featured Project Triple Threat (PTT) vs. New England Playaz. Ty Thomas paced PTT early, creating offense for himself and for others. The Playaz depth wore PTT down as the game went on, as Chris Doherty came in and helped the Playaz pick up the energy. Chris Herren hit several big shots, and the Playaz advanced to the semis to face the Middlesex Magic.
