ZEBRA OF THE YEAR???

Postby reffan » Mon Mar 06, 2017 8:49 am

Ok, the season is now over.....we have had many zebra of the week winners.....now who will be the 2016/17 Zebra of the Year? Like the Academy Award for best picture....getting nominated is a huge honor!

Reffan nominates:

Chris "Mr. Palm" Kelly.....his carry in the Greely girls game might be the worst call in the history of the tournament....that alone gets him nominated!

Richard "Clemenza" Johnson.....tattoo of Webb on his back, going to shovel out his driveway in the big storm, and sending Brunswick home with an across court call with 0 seconds on the clock (but wont call a train wreck in front of him in a state game) gets Clemenza nominated.

Shawn "the gut**** dw***" Kimball.....refrider's favorite Zebra.....putting the ball down and then counting by two's to 5 is a classic!

Bob "the Belt" Foster.....the only ref to still wear a belt....Bob is retiring this year...and throwing out the Greely Middle School coach at the end of the game in his last game ever gets him nominated

George "the Ref Nazi" Ayoob.......set a record this year....he was on 35 teams (boys and girls) do not want list! by breaking Barry Fuller's record of 33 gets him nominated

*any more nominations??? and get your votes in! Reffan will announce the winner Friday!

You blew the most important prediction, Kelly never saw the court after that Greely game. I applaud Fuller or whoever was responsible for keeping him out of the mix...

yes, Kelly and Kimball did not get state state games and deservedly so. They both injected themselves into games and if that was the reason Webb did not give them state games then Peter should be applauded.

*but, the word for years is that Webb has selected the refs for state games before the tournament. He only strays from his selections if there are team conflicts. So those calls by Kelly and Kimball might have nothing to do with them getting state games.

and hoop...Kelly palming call was in the Northern Maine championship game.....if punished it was only for one game. And Fuller has nothing to do with state championship assignments.

He did work a state game last year...so it might have already been decided that he was not going to get a game....

lol

Reffan made John Poulin PRE SEASON ZEBRA OF THE YEAR.......since he did not work in the regular season he is not eligible for the ZEBRA OF THE YEAR award.

though reffan does feel for him.......thank God the last list of the Zumba girl did not come out......reffan was sweating for a long time!

Easily gotta go with Shawn"T.G.D." Kimball. Another moment where the official wants to be in the spotlight and abuse his power. No need for this, both teams about to exit the huddle and then you only count to 3.5 to make a 5 second call. Not to mention this guy couldn't make a correct travel call to save his life. Now question..... Sure the environment is loud and with little time remaining the most crucial possession for SA in the game......Shead coach is allowed to run out to mid-court on the floor and ask for a time-out??? The overall champion belt goes to.

"He only strays from his selections if there are team conflicts."

Only one school hates Medomak more than Oceanside. LINCOLN ACADEMY. And who is one of the three refs in the medomak v. skowtown semi? The resource officer from Snob Hill. Not saying a word about the outcome. All I kno is I work for a municipality and if I suggested something that sounded as ludicrous or painfully inept as that I'd be in the bread line.

reffan's email is exploding on Zebra of the Year

heavy northern votes this year...

the gut**** dw*** Kimball is leading right now.......Mr. Palm, Chris Kelly is in a close second.
Reffan favorite...Clemenza is a distant third...
and the Ref Nazi and bob the belt foster have very little support

but..there are two day left.....get your votes in!

* "counting by two's".....is the line of the year! reffan laughs every time he thinks about it!

Counting by 2s to get to 5 is NOT easy !

My vote for Zebra of the Year is Al Haliday. He was a great ref in his day but well before the internet days, so this would be a great honor to go out on.
