Good for Nik. I hope his hardwork pays off and he finally gets that chance to play at the highest level. Wasn't too long ago when he was a soph at Maryland he was being projected to be picked in the first round

The road to the 2012 Eurocup Finals featured 152 games played until now and before a new champion of the competition is crowned, Euroleague Basketball has chosen 10 deserving stars to make up the All-Eurocup first and second teams for the 2011-12 season. Headlining the first team is Valencia Basket power forward Nik Caner-Medley, who was an All-Eurocup second team selection last season, too. Caner-Medley was chosen to the All-Eurocup second team when he played for Asefa Estudiantes last season.

Nik Medley signs 2 year deal to play in Israel : Maccabi Tel Aviv

Former Deering HS and University of Maryland star, Nik Caner-Medley announces via twitter: "I just signed 2 yr with Maccabi T-A. Very excited for this new challenge!"

Here is the link to the team page, in english. http://www.maccabi.co.il/default.asp?language=english They haven't updated their site yet. We're working to get Nik on for an interview on MBRRadio.com

From Wikipedia, about the club.... Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv B.C. (Hebrew: מ.כ. מכבי אלקטרה תל-אביב‎) is a professional Israeli basketball club based in Tel Aviv. The team plays in three leagues: the Euroleague, the Israeli Basketball Super League, and the Adriatic League.

The club started in the mid-1930s, as part of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Sports Club, which had been founded in 1906.

With 5 European Championships, 1 Adriatic Championship, 50 Israeli Championships, 39 Israeli Cups, and 3 League Cups, Maccabi has been the most successful basketball team in Israel. It is also the fourth-most successful club in European history, and one of the most successful teams of the past decade in European basketball, having won three titles and reached the finals five times in that period. Its players such as Tal Brody, Miki Berkovich, Motti Aroesti, Kevin Magee, Doron Jamchi, Earl Williams, and Aulcie Perry, and more recently Derrick Sharp, Šarūnas Jasikevičius, Anthony Parker and Nikola Vujčić, have been among the elite of Europe's basketball players.

Nik Caner-Medley now a million-dollar man

Postby Tom Nolette » Sun Jun 29, 2014 5:27 am

Solloway: Former Deering basketball star now a million-dollar man
Nik Caner-Medley earns a lucrative contract with a team in Kazakhstan.

BY STEVE SOLLOWAY..Nik Caner-Medley will next take his basketball to a place where winter temperatures can plunge to 30 degrees below zero. A place where he must learn a bit of Kazakh or Russian to order his steak well done or rare. A place in the middle of the world’s largest landlocked country in the vast Asian steppe. A place that borders Russia, China and three other former parts of the Soviet Union. A place that couldn’t be more out-of-sight, out-of-mind to Americans...

C-M is probably the single greatest talent in the history of Maine basketball...at least of the male gender...he is unquestionably the most physically gifted...good for him....

Ever since he played at Deeing he has been a charter member of my All Time All Maine team along with:
Skip Chappelle
Joe Harrington
Doug Roberts
Andy Bedard
And of course Nik Canet-Medley

...and to his everlasting chagrin will be linked forever by Maine hoop junkies to Ray and Campbell...

Speed: C-M may have been the most athletic and gifted athlete to play high school basketball in Maine, but he wasn't the best basketball player, playing basketball in Maine.

You know who I think is, but you told me once that he just missed your all time first team above...Peter Gavett, Orono 1969, 6'7" point guard with 7 feet 2 inch wing span, lead Orono to 22-0 State Class B Championship, 4 time high school All-American Selection, probably the most recruited basketball player in Maine high school history with over 60 D-1 scholarship offers and many from top 100 schools and several from top 50 schools.....

We usually think alike, but probably will never agree on Gavett.

I saw that Ron Baris put something out that Nik has donated a basketball hoop to the Bombers. Already giving back to the community!
