....wait til he gets more touches and becomes the 1st option ...the heavens of basketball are Mayo's only limit....he has all the tools....almost the athleticism and explosiveness of NCM , but 2 more inches and a better shooter....

Mayo has unbelievable ability. I was amused when he was in H.S. So many people thought he was not that good. Proof is in the pudding and other than a couple of Maine people, Speed, being one that posted not many believed in his outstanding talent.

Nick is a unique kid in this day and age, he continues to improve daily. leaves the court better than when he stepped on. and a great kid to top it all off

Nick is a major talent not mid major...if he had left Messalonskee, reclassified as Jr. and prepped for 2 years....or done a PG year after graduating from Messalonskee he would have been universally discovered and competed for by many scores of colleges ( 40 range) half of them MAJORS...

He is best Mainer since NCM and it's not even close...

NCM was a little more explosive...
NCM and Mayo are equally athletic...
Mayo is 2 inches taller...
Mayo is a better shooter...

Nick was very young in high school graduating at 17 and not turning 18 until August...so he matured late...I remember his freshmen year everyone was talking about Bouchard, Malloy and Simonds....not many had even heard of this kid named Mayo...he never played AAU until his Junior year...but since that AAU season of his Junior year his rise been meteoric...he has come very far very fast....

....23 and 28 points in past 2 games...
....leading frosh scorer in OVC at 13.7 PPG...
....6 time OVC Rookie of Week...

Speedie: Couldn't agree with you more. If he had done 1 year of prep school after high school he would have ended up at a big time school in a big time conference. Best Big time D-1 prospect since Peter Gavett 1969 Orono 6'7" Point Guard who was one of the most, if not the most recruited high school Maine player ever. Made 4 High School All-American HS Team Selections.

As young as Nick is he has more time to grow more time to get better.

Most impact player as a freshmen that I can remember especially without going to prep school and only just turning 18 last August.

In fact, after another year, he certainly could transfer way up the college team rankings to the major division of college teams. Possibly as high as a top 50 team, maybe even as high as a top 25 ranked team, in my opinion.
