Cedar Crest's Evan Horn now a 2-sport Division I athlete at New Hampshire

...He was all-state in basketball, a sport in which he led the Falcons to two L-L titles and two District Three championship games.

In track and field, he won league and district titles in the javelin.

He received recruiting interest from NCAA Division I schools in all three sports and Division I scholarship offers in football and basketball.

In an interview session at the University of New Hampshire last week, Horn admitted what a lot of people suspected.

"I always loved basketball, but I never had the offer that I wanted to for basketball, so I came here for football," Horn said.

That was as close as he's probably come to admitting that hoops was first among equals, and would always have a special place in his heart.

"We had actually talked about him playing both sports when we were recruiting him,'' New Hampshire football coach Sean McDonnell said last week. "I knew it was important to him. I was OK with it.'' ... user-share
