Maine (6-25, 3-13 AE) – Faces Vermont in a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal matchup; Will seek to become just the third #8 seed to upset the top seed
The 2018 #AEPlayoffs start on Saturday, March 3 with quarterfinal action at each of the top four seeds. Tickets can be obtained by contacting each host's ticket office.

#7 UMass Lowell at #2 UMBC, 1 p.m. – UMBC Event Center

The two semifinal winners will play for the America East title and an automatic NCAA bid on Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at the highest remaining seed’s home court.

All 2018 #AEPlayoffs action can be watched on ESPN networks. The quarter and semifinals will air on ESPN3 as part of The AE on ESPN3, while the championship game will be nationally televised on ESPN2. Wildcats Travel to Hartford for Quarterfinal Round

UNH Notebook
New Hampshire enters the America East Championships as the No. 6 seed and travels to play third-seeded University of Hartford for a quarterfinal matchup. The Wildcats have advanced to the semifinals each of the previous three years, but each of those quarterfinal games was at home as the No. 4 seed.

Last year, the Wildcats defeated UMBC, 74-65, in the quarterfinals and were ousted by top-seeded Vermont in the semifinals. In 2016, UNH advanced with a 56-51 win vs. Binghamton and then lost at No. 3 UVM. In 2015, the 'Cats defeated Hartford, 67-63 in overtime, before falling at top-seeded UAlbany.

UNH has a 12-35 lifetime record in the America East tourney, including a 1-4 mark as the No. 6 seed. The Wildcats are 10-18 in the quarterfinals.

The 'Cats have a 2-2 AE tourney record vs. Hartford. The most recent matchup was a 2015 quarterfinal in which New Hampshire prevailed, 67-63 in OT, at Lundholm Gym. In 2008, No. 2 Hartford beat No. 7 UNH (68-65) in the quarters (at Binghamton). In a 2006 quarterfinal (at Binghamton), No. 5 UNH won 66-62. In a 2000 first-round matchup (at Delaware), it was No. 7 Hartford 117, No. 10 UNH 88.

Leisnner Scores 21 in 71-60 AE Quarterfinal Loss at Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) scored a game-high 21 points but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was edged 71-60 by the University of Hartford in Saturday afternoon's America East quarterfinal game at Chase Arena.

Leissner, named to the All-Conference First Team for the third straight year earlier this week, made 8 of 15 field goals, including 4 of 7 3-pointers, in 39 minutes. He also had six rebounds, two blocks, one assist and a steal. Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.), an All-Rookie Team honoree, was next with 11 points. Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) had seven points and game-high six assists.

John Carroll led a trio of Hawks in double digits with 21 points, including 11-for-13 from the foul line. J.R. Lynch and Jason Dunne scored 19 and 15 points, respectively.

UNH, the No. 6 seed by virtue of a 6-10 conference record, ends the year at 10-21. Hartford, the third seed following an 11-5 conference mark, advances to the semifinals with a 19-12 record.

Leissner Selected to Participate in Inaugural 3x3 National Championship

DURHAM, N.H. – Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas), a senior on the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team, has been selected to participate in the inaugural Dos Equis 3x3U National Championship that will be held March 30-April 1 at St. Mary's University (San Antonio, Texas).

Leissner will combine with Trae Bell-Haynes (Vermont), Payton Henson (Vermont) and Jahad Thomas (UMass Lowell) from the America East conference to form one of 32 four-man teams consisting of players from every Division I conference in a three-day, 3-on-3 tournament. These teams are comprised of seniors who have exhausted their college eligibility.

Leissner was named to the America East All-Conference First Team for the third consecutive year in 2017-18, when he was also voted to the America East All-Academic Team. Leissner, the only Wildcat to start all 31 games, led UNH in nine stats, including scoring (18.7 ppg), and he ranked second in four more stats, including rebounding (6.9 rpg).
