McDonald's to become Unionized...?~

Postby hawksfan » Mon Jul 29, 2013 2:25 pm

Since when was it expected that a job in a fast food joint would provide a "living" for the people working there? For the most part wasn't it understood that a job at McD's was for high school and college kids...part time work, entry level...."Learn how to hold a job" type work?
Minimum wage type work...?

And nowadays the operation is so heavily automated (certainly the act of "making change" is a lost skill!) that very little actual initiative or "thinking" is required. And yet....SEIU agitating for $15 dollars an hour? Huh?

Everyone should get at least $15 an hour... Everyone in USA...enough to live a decent life and provide food and shelter for their families....especially now when corporate profits are at record highs...when hedge funders wallow in billions and Kim Kardashian and her whorish clan stock the land...when CEOs and stockbrokers and bankers who sit on their asses all day walk away with obscene slices of the pie...surely this is not too much to provide workers...McDonald's is good for it...there will be a class revolution in this county...just a question of when, not if...I hope I live to see it....

Yes, but will they be able to purchase the $11 Big Mac on those wages? It's such a vicious cycle, this market interventionism.

$11 BigMacs? Speed didn't say anything about raising prices, just wages. ;)

Interventionism????....I'd like to intervene with hedge funders, stock brokers, bank executives, corporate CEOs...intervene and expropriate all their largess and give it to the poor...you think those SOBs deserve their millions and billions when hard working mothers and fathers can't afford health care, food on the table, or even a roof over their heads in some cases...not welfare people but the hard working poor...

Yoy freekin market purists think people get what they deserve...I know for a fact most don't...most get screwed because the game is rigged to favor the powerful and wealthy...

Spielberg and kardashian my ass.........come the revolution they won't do so well...

Sorry to inform you the G-man has already intervened with those groups...and the more the intervention, the more they benefit each other. Anyway, fairness has as many meanings as there are humans.

…the envious are more likely to be mollified by seeing others deprived of some advantage than by gaining it for themselves. It is not what they lack that chiefly troubles them, but what others have. The envious are not satisfied with equality; they secretly yearn for superiority and revenge. In the French Revolution of 1848, a woman coal-heaver is said to have remarked to a richly dressed lady: “Yes, madam, everything’s going to be equal now; I shall go in silks and you’ll carry coal.”

..."Sometimes the motive of appeasing other people's envy is openly avowed. Socialists will often talk as if some form of superbly equalized destitution were preferable to “maldistributed” plenty. A national income that is rapidly growing in absolute terms for practically everyone will be deplored because it is making the rich richer. An implied and sometimes avowed principle of the British Labour Party leaders after World War II was that “Nobody should have what everybody can't have.”

..............Back about 1938-9 when I thought Roosveldt was the greatest, his administration gave out handouts, and us school kids received a slab of bacon to take home for our parents. I didn't think much about it and took it home. When the "old man" came home at night after his 12 hour day of survival (He was as close to broke at that time as most were and working as a self employed carpenter with his brothers). He spotted the slab of bacon, and asked where I got it. I told him, and he instructed me to take it back--That was my first lesson in becoming an individual. By the way, B&M beans were the main meal of the day--every day.

..............Just remember, whatever government gives--they will take it back in some form or another. Right now, just buying votes with someone else's money.

Is it really possible that you are blind to the consequences of this kind of thinking? i.e.; Mandating a ridiculous wage like $15 an hour? Let's do this...make it mandatory that the rock bottom minimum wage is $50 an hour....then lets watch a burger, fries and coke go for $25, a loaf of bread for $10, a gallon of gas for $15 bucks...you cannot possibly believe the above would actually work Speed...I think you're just messin' around with this one...

... it's a shame that so many don't remember the reality of the Butcher of La Cabana! Che was little more than a murderous thug.
