America East Play In Game (8) Maine loses to (9) Hartford 65-56.

Maine finished at 9-21 just 2 games ahead of last years 7-23 mark. Just 16-44 for past two years with this group of sophomores and junors.

Really thought that they would finish at ,east in the middle of the cnference standings but finishing 8th two years in a row and loosing in the 8-9 playin game for 2 consecutive sessons is just a result of the following:

1. No inside outside offensive game
2. Players playing out of position. Socoby is a point guard not a shooting guard and McNally is a face the basket power forward not a back to the basket player
3. Maine's defense got worse as it got into conference play
4. The loss of Cook did not help, although he would not have gotten any more offensive shots then Andre did last season at least defensively he would have been a big improvement in the lane with his long arms and height. Maine had no defender to help out on penetration to block or alter shots. Cook could have done that even though he wouldn't have figured much in the offense anymore than Andre did.
5. They need a adequate big man for next year. They have got good shooters in McLemore, McNally, and a good point guard if they move Socoby to point as he is a much better passer and creator than he is a shooter. He was playing shooting guard and did his job as he led the team in scoring, but he would have been a much better player at point. Barnies was a hustler and he gave Maine everything he had.A good nucelus returnsd in McNally, McLemore, Barnies and Socoby.

They only lose Boffia and Owes so they have alot returning. Not to many scholarships available, but if Cook does not return then they defintely need an adequate big man.

They should finish in the top third of the conference next year with all starters currently returning.

Maine goes 4-13 i n conference action and lost 10 of last 11 conference games. Maine finishes at 3-5 at home and 1-8 on the road in conference play.
