The bats were kind of flat, leaving runners on base but came alive in the second game. Justin Collette from South Portland was on the team for Salve Regina.

Husson v. Coe (Iowa)

Postby Strikeout » Sun Mar 08, 2009 1:50 pm

Husson split today with Coe (Iowa)
I believe the final score of the first game was 4-2 (Coe). Husson had good pitching with Chris Pease on the mound but a few costly mistakes in the field. With the time change, they may not have been awake yet!!

The second game was an exciting one with Chris Morris on the mound. Husson was down by 2 in the last inning. Coe's pitcher walked two, then Chris Maguire hit to centerfield, followed by Nick Arthurs getting a hit and Dennis Graham driving in the game-winning run for a final score of 5-4. Their record is 8 wins and 4 losses with two more games to go--one against Dubuque, Iowa tomorrow and one against Beloit on Tuesday. Hopefully, the snow will be off the field by the time they return to Bangor!

Husson v. Dubuque

Postby Strikeout » Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:55 am

Well, you can call Husson the "comeback" team. They came back in the 9th inning with 4 runs to win the game against the University of Dubuque (14-13). They certainly like to keep the fans on the edge of our seats, but one thing I can say about this team after watching them play 13 games this week is they don't give up. The team is playing very well together and the coaching has been great.

Husson v. Beloit

Postby Strikeout » Wed Mar 11, 2009 5:06 am

Well, they put the fans on the edge of their seats again when Husson played against Beloit for the final game of their Florida series. Husson thought they had it wrapped up with a score of 7-1 going into the 9th inning. Beloit came back scoring 8 runs in the 9th inning. Husson hung in there. Ethan Guerette and another player were on base, and then Beloit intentionally walked Chris Maguire. With two outs on the board, T.J. Frail was put in as a pinch hitter and made a suicide squeeze bunt driving in Ethan Guerette for the game-winning run. Arsenault pitched the first 8 innings and Tom Crews hit one over the fence driving in 3 of the 7 runs.
