Husson Baseball

Postby Strikeout » Mon Mar 02, 2009 7:55 am

Husson had a great first outing against Anna Maria. No hits in the first 4 innings and then a couple of errors were made, allowing 3-4 runs. The score was something like 22-4 with Husson hitting several home runs! Best of all, I believe the entire bench was able to get into the game! Congratulations Husson!

Husson won both the varsity game and JV game against Siena Heights (Michigan) yesterday. Started out rough in the first couple of innings but they came back to win in both games. They are looking good offensively and defensively so far.

WOW !!! Given the status, quality and uncertainties surrounding the athletic programs at our "flagship" university (Grrachhhl-Plah - Ooops, Sorry for the hairball cough-up there, should have seen it coming !?), It looks like following the Husson and USM baseball programs, along with the hopefully resurgent UMaine Softball program (and yes, I was not particularly pleased with that whole HC selection process or choice, but.....), may just be the brighest opportunity to enjoy Maine College Sports this Spring ! ?

Goooo Eagles (aka/fna Braves) !!!!! Looking forward to catching a Husson game or two next weekend down in FLA (UMaine and Husson are at the same Chain O' Lakes complex on Saturday; Husson at 9:30 and Noon-ish (DH?), UMaine v. Ohio St. @ 4pm !), and the Husson roster certainly reads like a who's who of recent Central & Northern Maine HS baseball players (i.e., Pease, Shannon, Morris, Cushing, Crews, Leeman, York, etc.) with a few from down south thrown in as well (Guerette, Arsenault, Candage and Larochelle) !!!

Gonna Be a GREAT Day of Baseball (10+ hours ?) and "Deja Vu All Over Again" watching the Husson guys, followed by UMaine's "premier" regular season game this year (OH St. already 6 or 7-0 ?) !

T,

they are not the braves anymore...they went with the more politically correct Eagles as their mascot.....what is the world coming to...i would think using the nickname would be a sign of respect and honor....not for some yuppies out there.

but yes its nice to see a couple guys that I have coached personally continue theirs careers in college.

Husson splits with Northland

Postby Strikeout » Wed Mar 04, 2009 7:56 am

Husson v. Northland - 1st game (9-1)
Husson v. Northland - 2nd game (9-5)

Husson played well in the first game and parts of the second game. A few costly errors in the second. The coach of Northland (Andy Ham) is a 2005 graduate and former player of Husson. It is starting to be more like Florida weather down here.

Recap from Northland's website.

FYI Re: the Northland games, it was a split. The 9-1 was a Husson win, the 9-5 was a loss. Looks like the Maine boys are playing some very competitive baseball !

Husson v. Muhlenberg (PA)

1st Game: Muhlenberg 6, Husson 3
2nd Game: Husson 4, Muhlenberg 2

The second game was a very exciting game. Husson came back and got all four runs in the 7th to win the game. They are playing well as a team and Jason Harvey has been doing a great job coaching.

Husson split today with a 6-1 loss in game 1 followed by a 5-2 win in game 2. Great day to watch baseball and catch up with old friends.
