Probable UM WBB 1st round NCAA Opponent

Postby Countryboy » Wed Mar 13, 2019 1:54 pm

99.9% chance that if UM defeats Hartford they wind up a 14 seed facing the 3 seed in Syracuse NY. That opponent will more than likely be the Syracuse Orange. If they had a poor record this season then they would have been shipped to Storrs to face #1 seed UCONN. Still, not a bad drive (6-8 hrs depending on where you live in Maine) to cheer on the Lady Black Bears ! Good luck Friday!

A lot of tee shirt fans won't even drive 2 hours to support UMaine, much less 6-8.

They're just the Black Bears. This isn't Tennessee.

You're officially part of the problem.

Don't worry Bam, the Cross Center will be rocking Friday nite. Ticket sales are ahead of last year's 3,330. My guess will be 3,750 and that is without students who go on break Friday. Can only imagine if it was a 7pm start think it might have sold out ;)

Just so you know Countryboy the post called UMaine womens bracketology has kicked this subject around since 3/1, see below.

I hope a lot of people get out of work early and since the break for students starts Friday, maybe a bunch will still be around and will help fill that place to the gills! A 7pm start would have been fantastic!

Whoa whoa whoa, back up. There are very few things in life that are 99.9% certain, and with several conference championship games still left to played, this is far from being one of them (even assuming Maine wins on Friday). As recently as last Thursday, Charlie Creme himself said that he wouldn't be surprised if Maine jumped up to the #13 seed line.

Also, if Maine wins and travels to Syracuse as the #14 seed, it will 100% play Syracuse because the first two rounds of the tournament are hosted by the top 4 seeds in each region.

Blatant thumbing of the nose towards UMaine athletics. It's not " just the Black Bears". Classic Tee Shirt fan.

That’s not it, Bam. He was correcting the OP by saying they are just the Black Bears instead of the Lady Black Bears.
