When do we play UMPI or UM-Farmington?

MJ: Or UMaine@Machias like in Men's BB. 20% of their 5 wins.

Silly me. I thought a baseball conversation would be safe from the relentless bashing of the men's basketball team. I guess your venom knows no bounds.

"thebam": Wow. such a big hack I made. Just comparing baseball and men's basketball that is all in jest.

According to Warren Nolan . com...

Maine 8th toughest schedule in the country.
Maine's opponents ( not including games against maine) .. highest winning percentage in the country.

I am as frustrated as any of you with the 0-14 start, but they aren't playing popcorn st. university ( see SEC football non conference ). Maine challenged themselves . Wins and losses, it's not paying off .. yet..

The amount of walks is trending down which is really good. That has been the biggest issue for 2 years .
Looking forward to Courtney taking the mound this week. If he's " back" it is a huge boost .

Maine continues to get solid performances from the bullpen overall.
Maine had 10 hits yesterday. Unfortunately, not enough with guys in scoring position, but they were getting good swings in. I remain very optimistic going into AE play next weekend that this schedule is preparing them for good things going forward.

2 keys going forward. More consistency from the starting pitchers and more timely hitting. That sounds pretty cliche' I know, but it's really the difference right now between 0-14 and 5-9 probably.

1-15.

Maine was shut out for the 4th time in 16 games.

They have scored 2 or fewer runs in 10 of 16 games.

Maine batters stuck out 31 times in the 3 game Samford series.

Team batting average is currently .191 vs. .280 for opponents.

I remember a year when Maine went 0-22 on their spring trip and got whacked by the likes of LSU and Florida State every time out.

A tough schedule is fine, but don't bury them. Put in a couple of games to get the bats going.
