Game Discussion: Maine WBB at UMBC - 2/9/19

Maine up 22-17. UMBC turning the ball over a ton.

Bad news is that it looks like Dor Saar may have twisted her ankle. If she's out against Harford on Wednesday, that's a huge factor, especially with Hartford's style of play. UGH.

Yeah...the good news just keeps flowing for UM sports.

Hartford blew out this team by 40. Make mo mistake...the Black Bears are the underdog vs. Hartford on Wednesday...with or without Saar.

whispers (so did we the first time we played them)

Maine v Hartford at full strength is basically an even matchup with both teams having the advantage on their home court.

Maine up 26-20 at the half.

Maine will need to figure out a strategy for playing without Dor, especially if she's still out on Wednesday. Hartford's press makes me a little nervous.

One would assume Maine will have been working on counters to Hartford's full court pressure, the question then becomes do those counter(s) work, and what is Hartford's new wrinkle to counter our counter. A chess match to be sure.

Agreed. If Maine has Dor, I would put my money on Maine when playing at the CIC, but it's a close matchup.

Maine’s offensive pace has been terrible. UMBC’s players are not in great shape. Maine should be pushing it up the floor. The ball movement is non existent. Tanesha has to pass when they collapse 3 bodies on her and she needs to do it quick. Maine needs crisp ball movement and sharper cuts. Maybe a half court trap would speed things up? Maine needs to turn it up!

Exactly! I mean, we beat Binghamton by 30, and Hartford lost to them by 10.

That having been said, not having Saar on Wednesday against Hartford's press would have a major impact.

They may need to think about Tanesha playing the point.
