Game Discussion Thread: Maine WBB vs. UVM (2/6/19)

Postby mainah57 » Wed Feb 06, 2019 2:19 pm

Maine women are back home tonight playing Vermont at the CIC.

The last game against Vermont was not quite a cakewalk (Maine was only up 30-27 at the half), but thankfully a really strong fourth quarter and an outstanding overall performance by Sutton made the difference.

Vermont's only conference losses so far have been to Maine, Hartford, and Stony Brook (the three best teams in the conference by most arguments...), so they aren't a team to totally write off.

Maine has been playing well at the CIC though (and in general lately), so hopefully they are able to take care of business.

Close first half, but Maine pulled out for a comfortable win, 66-45.

Blanca with 22 points / 6 rebounds / 2 steals.

Parise continuing her hot streak, shooting 4-5 from the three today and ending up with 14 points / 3 steals / 3 assists.

Nice team effort all around.

Nice to see Blanca find her stroke in the 2nd half....she has been struggling a bit lately.,

After a slow start in the first half, Maine was firing on all cylinders in the second half.

I know there are still six conference regular season games to go, but it definitely seems like the regular season championship will be decided on 2/13 against Hartford at the CIC... can't wait!

Hartford is very good. They just won by 60.

Can I add... I'm not a huge fan of the fact that we have to play Stony Brook at what is basically a neutral site (Augusta Civic Center). It will probably be a decent crowd, but this Maine team has never played there, and Stony Brook at someplace that isn't the CIC makes me a little nervous.
