Despite all the publicity about the UMaine football teams big playoff game at 12noon at Alfond Stadium tomorrow the men's basketball 0-7 team have a game in New Jersey tomorrow at 3:00pm with St. Peter's 1-5 of the Metro Atlantic Conference.

So watch the football game on ESPN3 at noon and then catch the basketball game following at 3:00pm. It will be streamed. Just go to goblackbears.com scroll down and hit watch on the game.

TeamRankings.com gives Maine a 16.2% chance of winning this game. TeamRankings.com also has St. Pete's ranked in RPI at 270 and Maine at 330.

Realtimerpi.com has St. Pete's RPI at 283 and SOS (strength of schedule at 170 while Maine's RPI is 323 and SOS
at 292.

Only common opponent is North Texas who beat St. Pete's 75-66 and edged Maine 74-63 in overtime both games at North Texas.

St. Pete's has shot 40,2% from the floor Maine at 41.8%.
St. Pete's is 30.1% from 3 point land Maine at 25.6%
St. Pete's shoots 70,6% from the line Maine at 54.4%
St. Pete's takes 46.2% of their FGA's as 3's Maine takes 40.7%

St. Pete's has 3 players averaging double figures, Turner 6'O" guard at 18.2 and 2 6'7" players Idowu at 12.8 and Ndefo at 10.2 while Maine has 2 players White 6'6" shooter at 15.7 and 6'7" Fleming at 11.4.

The Metro Conference that St. Pete's plays in is ranked the 32 (last place) in RPI and 31st in SOS (Strength of Schedule) while the America East Conference that Maine is a member is ranked 30th in RPI and 28th in SOS.

Maine has a chance to win this game as they match up size wise with St. Peters. The conference rankings are from realtimerpi.com.

St. Pete's is about the same size physically as Maine so Maine will not be at a disadvantage in that situation like they have been in some of the previous 7 games losses.

I think Maine may have a 50-50 chance to win this game if they can keep the game in the 50's and not give up their defensive average so far of 74ppg.

Maine must shoot the ball better then they have so far this season and must defend better also and try to keep the game in the 50's or 60;s and not give up their 74 ppg average they have defensively.

I know everyones focus will be on the football team today but lets hope the coaching staff has this team prepared and focused today. Oppontents shoot 44% vs St Peter's on 3pts ...Maine has shot 26%.
