Have any of the departed Men's BB staff found jobs

Postby bcbc55 » Sun Apr 29, 2018 5:46 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows if any of the departed Maine men's basketball staff have found coaching job?

basketball-guy: Anything on Bob Simon the most qualified assistant coach ever to be hired in the history of either of the Basketball programs.

Walsh? Notice he is still writing his BLOG.

Gray? I thought was always a team player.

Can't remember the other one.

"mainejeff": Now, Now. May well be since 1949. I don't think it was much the assistant's fault.

Don't think Walsh listened too much to his assistants. Didn't see any change in strategy when Bob Simon came on and he was the most experienced assistant coach ever hired for the Maine men's BB program.

Maine still played the same way as the 3 previous years, relying too much on the three, no inside game, no inside-outside game, too many players playing double figure minutes and players determining who shot, when they shot and where they shot from.

Still like Walsh's BLOGS though, have to fine something positive about the coach.

DII Search Update: Southern New Hampshire University. I have heard that at least four candidates have interviewed on campus at SNHU: Former Maine head coach Bob Walsh, NJIT assistant Jeff Rafferty (a former UNH assistant), and Boston University assistant Jack Perri (former head coach at LIU). I have also heard that at least one current assistant has been interviewed as well.

I have heard nothing about Bob Simon at this point.

If Bob Walsh is being considered they mention nothing in the requirements about
being a blogger....so I expect he won't get the job....

After reading this nonsense I really wonder if this guy will ever get an opportunity to Coach again.
He had his chance at Maine...no sense in complaining over spilt milk so to speak. Hopefully Barron
can do much better. I think the culture at Maine is fine but they need to play better and learn to win.
Walsh talks about the culture at Maine and how losing was acceptable. Losing was never acceptable, and
there was nothing wrong with the culture at Maine. They just need to get some better players. Barron will
do fine given time.
