I actually don’t think this is that bad. Best case scenario someone decides not to transfer and that’s a little less turnover. Worst case scenario the players leaving tell their AAU/High school coaches that Barron treated them well as they were leaving. I’m guessing he’s treating outbound players a lot better than Walsh did so it doesn’t hurt to repair Maine’s reputation even if it’s only marginal.
They can’t even play 5 on 5 with the players coming back so having a few extra bodies for scrimmages isn’t the worst.

Good points....but doesn't exactly help with recruiting. Signing period is now with 1 commit & 1 de-commit. I guess we'll have to wait until mid-May to see exactly how many players can be recruited for next season. :oops:

Right now:

7 returning scholarship players
1 verbal commit signed letter of intent today
total 8 scholarshipped players + 2 walk ons=10 rostered players

2 medium interest offers out 6'0" point guard and 6'9" post player

5 scholarships available: Which way will they go in recruiting process?

Grad's=Most experienced & eligible right away
JUCO's=next experienced & eligible right away
Freshmen=least experienced & eligible right away=out-of-state & international players
Transfers=have to sit out a year unless Graduates

Remember after Maine men had 6 players transfer after 2016 season and 5 transfer after 2017 season they went mostly the JUCO route 1st, then freshmen 2nd and then transfers 3rd.

Regardless of which way they go in recruiting will Coach Barron's coaching be the difference in trying to turn the program around in three years like was done in the women's program under the same circumstances of 4 years 24-94 women and 4 years 24-100 men?

"imposter" and "aechamps": Thanks for the info.

Big point guard!

Despite injuries (Missed 11 games) for Western Texas College last season he averaged 7.5 ppg in 13.1 mpg, started 12 of 17 Games, averaged 3.3 assists pg, and 5.1 rebs pg. Excellent stats for minutes played. Too bad he lost time being injured.

What level is Western Texas College? Hope it is a JUCO then he wouldn't have to sit out a year if he transferred to Maine and he would be a junior with 2 years of eligibility left.
