So is anyone else wondering who else Barron is going to sign next. I know we had at least one recruit on campus this weekend( Darwich from Lee Academy) but have not seen any chatter in a few days since Thursday...Barron commented on having a productive 48hrs on April 14th.....looks like Ben Onek from Maine is getting some more interest and has had some team from America East ask about him with several D2's this weekend....

"aechamps": I'll join in with you champ. It has been awhile.

Long trip from Western Texas College for the 6'4" point guard, Sergio El Darwich, who is very well traveled, from Lebannon to Lee to South Dakota State to Western Texas Jr. College and to Orono this past weekend. He is not listed on verbalcommits.com Maines recruiting roster list.

Maine Had 5 Lee preppers on last years roster: Calixe, Ilija S., Dusan M., Antoms and Wang. If Darwich from Lee Prep signs then 5 again for next year. Quite a pipeline for players and for an assistant coach and only 50 plus miles from Orono.

Bridgton Academy, Gould Academy and Lee Academy all NEPSAC members now and certainly are definite positive 3 D-1 potential recruiting grounds.

6'9" Gould Academy's Stephane Ingo from Canada still available.

Not many Mainers on those rosters as Gould had 2, Bridgton 0 and I don't know if Lee had any either.

Bridgton's 6'11" 260lb Farwin Aimaq from Vancover, signed with Mercer of the Southern Conference after having several other D-1 offers. Verbalcommits.com did not have Maine offering him.

Also 7'0" Trever Irish a year at Valley Prep Academy and a freshmen at Central Arizona Junior college is also still available and again verbalcommits.com dofs not have him being offered by Maine either.

Gould Academy's Stephane Ingo also had a 6'11" teammate Wilden Leversque from Brockton, Massachusetts who will be a 2019 available who looked very good in games from the Gould website has an offer from St. Bonaventure.

There is also a 6'9" junior Andrew Hartel in Western Maine at Cape Elizabeth High School that has good size and potential.

That is 5 good size BIGS with Maine connections plus add 6'4 point guard Sergio El Darwich.

Always liked big point guards and big post players myself as a coach.

"Blind Zebra": Thanks for the information. This info is not up on verbalcomits.com yet.

Both are from Lee Academy and played for the new assistant coach at UMaine at Lee Academy.

Nedeljko played two years at Texas State a D-1 team in the Sunbelt Conference. So he probably will have to sit out a year whereas Sergio El Darwich is eligible immediately as he played for a JUCO college.

Maine now has 7 returning scholarship players, 3 letter of intents signed, 2 walk ons and 3 scholarships remaining.

Maine will have 6 players on roster from Lee Academy. Ilija S., Antoms, Dusan M., Wang, Darwich and Prijovic. If Calixe had stayed it would have been 7.

verbalcommits has posted the additions of transfers Darwich and Pirjovic to UMaine. Maine now has 7 returning scholarship players 3 signees so 10 scholarship players, 2 walk ons and 3 scholarships remaining.

Still need another BIG. 6'10 250lb. Maine connection Trever Irish 7'0" 220lb from Lewiston,

Maine grad 2015 still available and immediately eligible on a transfer as he is a freshmen JUCO right now at Central Arizona College, plus he had a year at a Florida prep school before going to CAC so he has some experience and age 2 years beyond High School and he is from Maine as are all of the 3 new recruits and the total coaching staff either have playing or coaching experience here in Maine. Keep the Maine connection streak going sign 7'0" footer Trever Irish.

His stats last year started all 30 games averaged 14.3 ppg, 8.8 rebounds per game and is listed as 1 of 2 JUCO's for next year at 7'0" on JUCORecruiting.com list if he doesn't sign this year and returns as a sophomore to CAC.

UMaine men's basketball adds two with Maine ties

ORONO - A week after Portland's Terion Moss signed his National Letter of Intent to play at the University of Maine, the men's basketball team added two more Tuesday. Like Moss, both have Maine ties.

Guard Sergio El Darwich and forward Nedeljko Prijovic will make their way to Orono next season, as both signed on to become the newest Black Bears under head coach Richard Barron. El Darwich, who saw time starting for South Dakota State two years ago before transferring to Western Texas College, will be immediately eligible to play. Prijovic, who comes in from Texas State, will need to sit out for a season as per NCAA rules.

6’5 shooting guard from Ukraine via South Plains CC commits. He has experience playing in Ukraine national teams which I think is impressive

"Blackbear28": verbalcommits.com doesn't have this yet. Checked SPCC roster and only 1 player from Ukraine on roster and he is listed at 6'3" with very little playing time and his name is Mykhailo Yagodin. Has a lot of international competition at the different age groups

If I had the right SPCC which was in Texas.

If correct that means that Maine men have just 1 scholarship available having used 12 of the 13 and still no BIG 6'10" plus, hope they keep that one left for a BIG like Trever Irish 7'0" 220lb from Lewiston, Maine with a year of prep and last year at Central Arizona Junior College and eligible immediately.

Scholarships:
7 returning players: Araujo, Fleming, Ilij S., Dusan M.,
..............Antoms, White and Eze
3 signees: Moss, Darwich, and Prijovic
2 commits: Larrson and Ukraine player Mykhailo Yagodin
2 walkons: Bristonas and Wang

ONLY ONE PLAYER (Prijovic) OF THE 5 COMING IN OF THE ONES LISTED ABOVE IS NOT ELIGIBLE IMMEDIATELY FOR NEXT YEAR WHICH IS A GREAT THING TO GO THE JUCO ROUTE AND NOT THE TRANSFER ROUTE. Get experienced players who can play right away.
