Not sure either Tanesha or Lindsey Abed shouldn't have been on first team, considering where their teams would be without them. Also think Olivia Healy (UNH) has a stronger stat sheet than some others above her, including her teammate Pogue, but UNH was a major underperformer this year, so that may hurt her, as it may have hurt Crymble, though it didn't hurt Pogue. Interesting that Tiana-Jo Carter made all-defensive team but her coach was playing her offense-defense last Sunday, with Heather Forster for defense and Carter for offense. What does the Albany coach know that the other coaches don't know? Interesting also that eight of the 15 top players will be coming back, including all three of Maine's. Plus Maine's all-academic and Maine's Sixth player of the year. The future looks pretty good, beginning Saturday at noon.

Go, Black Bears.

Postby bcbc55 » Sat Mar 03, 2018 12:04 am

Bob Neal beat me by 4 minutes. Great job Bob. Your just quicker at the keyboard then this old timer.

Amy Vachon was named the America East Coach of the Year, Blanca Millan was named to the first all conference team and first team all conference defensive team. Dor Saar was named the conference's All-Rookie player of the year and to the first team all rookie squad, Parsse Rossignol was named the 6th player of the year, Tanehsa Sutton made the second team all conference team and Fanny Wadling made the All Academic Team.

Congratulations to all the selectees.

For further information just go to for an excellent article on each lady that was honored.

Now after winning the AE regular season conference championship, gaining these 6 well deserved selections awards all that is left is to go and win 2 games at Portland this weekend so that they can have the home championship game at the CIC in Bangor next weekend.

What a season. Congratulations again to the 2018 AE Champions and Go Black Bears this weekend.

Add to that Coach Vachon has been hired as the new head coach for the next four seasons it has been just been one great outstanding season for a team that was picked by the AE women's coaches to finish 6th in the conference in the conferences pre-season coaches poll.

The only thing I could ask for more was that Sutton was named to the first team all conference team.

Well she will just have to show the AE coaches how wrong they were again (like 6th place) with her tournament play this weekend and hopefully next weekend.
