Maine's Aaron Calixte was named to the All-America East Conference Third Team today. Well deserved honor for this hard working and hard playing Black Bear!

I remember many Mbr posters said Bonny Eagle’s Dustin Cole was the better player and UMaine made a mistake.

Thanks for the funny memory man! I seem to remember Speed telling me that Cole was basically Aaron's equal. I was also chastised during AC's freshman year when I stated he has all conference potential....
If Aaron can come back next year and reduce his turnovers, he has a legit shot at first team all conference. If he stays healthy, he will end up somewhere between 5 thru 10 on the career scoring list at Maine and near the top in assists.

no one who knows basketball recruiting thought that .... except the cool-aid drinkers tied to another site, which is no longer ..

The AAU tourney where comments were made in question was at BE, Aaron was viewed as a mid to high major prospect, Dustin as a high D3, a very good Maine HS player ..

Congrats to Aaron on his 3rd team selection !

Calixte to leave UMaine men’s basketball program

...Calixte said he began thinking about his options with the graduate transfer rule about a month ago, long before Monday’s replacement of his coach for the last four years, Bob Walsh, with former UMaine women’s basketball head coach Richard Barron.

Calixte did say that the change in coaching staff served to further validate his decision to transfer to another school.

“I just couldn’t see myself coming back without the coaching staff I’ve been here with,” he said.

Bam,

Why are these funny? Arizona is in the midst of a pay for play situation, so they are going to lose kids and will need to populate the roster again.

Wisconsin loves seniors.

Missouri is losing players and needs guys who can score.

And remember Wes Myers went to South Carolina who played in the Final 4 last year and ended up starting.

This is how it works. Grad transfers are a commodity. Guys who have 3 years in the books and can run a team, can defend, can get buckets, if you have a specialty item you bring to a roster these schools will take it especially if they are seniors and can help with leadership to a young roster. None of those schools are out of reach for Calixte.
