Sophomore’s development instrumental in UMaine women’s AE title push

...“The offense we run really suits her. She’s a face-up kind of forward,” said UMaine head coach Amy Vachon, who said Wadling has a high basketball IQ.

“She has become more comfortable with our style and with the people she’s playing with. She knows what her strengths are and she plays to them,” added Vachon.

Last season was challenging for Wadling, who showed promise while averaging 5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 19.6 minutes. A knee injury had sidelined the Nacka, Sweden, native the previous year.

Her game involved jumpers from around the paint and drives to the basket.

Can America East women’s basketball teams topple the dynasty?
Albany has won six consecutive titles entering this weekend's conference tournament in Portland.

University of Albany basketball coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee gave her team a day off in February. A time to relax for the players but not for the coach.

“When we’re off, I’m recruiting,” she said via phone while on the road.

There is no rest for the team on top.

“Hopefully we’ll continue to bring in young, great student-athletes who want to work hard to keep up the tradition.”

It’s been quite a tradition. Albany, which began its America East tenure with an 0-16 conference record in 2001-02, is now the powerhouse, the longest-running dynasty in league history.

Maine up 13 to 4 after first quarter. Maine defense is stifling against lower opponent like UMBC.

Maine up 33 to 15 at the half. Milan with 11, Tanesha everywhere doing it all and Parisse with a couple of nice hoops. Hopefully can rest some starters in the 2nd half to prepare for tomorrow's big game ;)

Maine wins 65-43. Parisse with career high 15 pts, solid game for all. UNH -SB next not sure who we want, just hope they beat the heck out of each other and it goes 3 OT's

One is more athletic (SB) & one wants revenge for last season & sweeping this season (UNH). Pick your poison.

Looking like Maine will play UNH. Wildcats up big on Stony Brook, late in the 4th quarter.
