Black Bears Set to Host UAlbany in Clash for AE Regular Season Title

SCOUTING UALBANY:
The Great Danes enter riding a three-game win streak after battling back from a 17-point halftime deficit to defeat Binghamton, 57-53 on Thursday evening. UAlbany is 9-4 on the road this season, with all three of its conference losses coming away from its home court. The Great Danes, who lead the America East in offense at 69.3 points per game, are led by redshirt senior Jessica Fequiere. Fequiere ranks third in the league at 17.6 points per game and checks in as UAlbany's leading rebounder, ranking eighth among league leaders with 6.0 rebounds per game. Tiana-Jo Carter, who just became UAlbany's all-time blocks leader, is adding 11.0 points and 5.1 rebounds. Point guard Mackenzie Trpcic is the league's leader in assists, averaging an impressive 6.8 per game to go along with a 2.1 assist/turnover ratio; second best in the America East. UAlbany ranks second in the league in rebounding (38.0) and have been especially strong on the offensive boards, checking in atop the league at 14.9. Defensively, UAlbany has forced an America East best 23.1 turnovers per game and rank second in the league in blocks (3.7) and steals (11.3). However, the Dane also turn it over at the highest rate (17.6) in the league.

A GLIMPSE INTO THE UALBANY SERIES:
Maine and UAlbany, who have met in each of the last two America East Championship contests, will square off for the 38th time in history with the all-time series knotted up at 19-19. UAlbany has won three-straight in the series, including a 68-53 decision in Albany earlier this season. In that game, Maine carried a 35-32 lead into the half but was outscored 36-19 in the second half. Blanca Millan led the Black Bears with 19 points while Tanesha Sutton (12) and Dor Saar (11) each added double-figures. Brosseau only played three minutes in the meeting after suffering an injury early in the first quarter. Maine's last victory in the series came at home a year ago when it defeated the Danes 84-71 in Bangor. Since the series began in 2001, Maine is 8-6 all-time at home against UAlbany. Blanca Millan enters play averaging 14.5 points against the Great Danes, totaling double-digits in three of her four meetings with UAlbany, including a 26 point effort in Maine's 2017 win.

Fafan, if you're anywhere near section 115, drop by row J to say hello. I still remember your kind words last summer when my dear wife died. It meant a lot.

Go, Blue, indeed!

Wow, Wow and another Wow. Would rate this one of the top 5 UMaine sporting events I have ever seen. :D

To be down 16 at one time in the 2nd half and seem to make a run only to miss a hoop and or give up another and yet never give up with their top player Blanca Milan on the bench made this comeback even more incredible ;)
Sutton playing her usual incredible self scoring 27 was everywhere, what else is new. The 3 pters by Parisse and Brosseau were huge as well.

The football team congratulating the girls was a nice touch and seeing Turkeyman at the fan appreciation gathering just made this game even memorable.

Now enjoy the league championship and get ready to win 2 more and do this one more time for the right to go DANCING!!!

So happy for everyone involved with this program. They finally got over the hump beating Albany when it really counted. Sutton was a monster...just a tremendous player with an iron will & never quit attitude. One of the great moments in UM Women's Basketball history. :)
