'FIGURES DON'T LIE", and they also show why the UMaine men's basketball team is in 8th place in their America East Conferences Win-Lost standings and ranked 9th in the conference's in team RPI.

Of 9 categories statistical team statistics they are 9th in the conference in 5, 8th in 2 and 3rd in one and 4th in one

Here they are:
9th place
Offense ppg scored 66.8
3 point percentage 28.9%
Field Goal Percentage 40.2%
Turnovers ave. per game 13.4
Assist.Turnover ratio 0.76

8th place
Defense pts. allowed pg 75.0
Assists per game ave. 11.8

Fourth place
Foul shooting % 69.6%

3rd place
Rebounding ave. per game 35.8

They are currently in 9th place which is last place in the America East team RPI Team Rankings an d8th place in conference W-L standings.

Maine is ranked 332 of 351 D-1 team Realtimerspi.com team RPI rankings and in Pomeroy's team RPI rankings of 337

Maine's SOS (strength of schedule) is ranked at 272 of the 351 teams

The America East Conference in which Maine is in 8th place in win-lost standings at 2-7 an last place in Real timerpi.com's Conference RPI of the 9 conference teams

The America East conference is ranked 23rd of the 32 D-1 conferences RPI
of the 32 conference is the 27th ranked SOS (strength of schedule)

Maine's overall record for this year is 5-19 and is 3-19 versus D-1 teams at this time.

Maine's 24 games this year they are 5-19 overall and 3-19 against D-1 competition

Maine is 23-93 18% winning percentage overall for the 3 plus years and 116 games and are 15-93 13% winning percentage against D-1 competition for 108 D-1 games. 8 wins of the 23 are against non D-1 teams like UMM, UMPI, and they even have lost to D-3 USM and USCAA UMFK the past 3 years.

They also have not won an America East tourney game the past 3 years and this year if they don't finish 8th or better they will not even make the conference tournament automatically like they did the past three years as there were only 8 teams eligible for the tournament. This year there are nine teams in the conference now eligible for the tournament as UMass-Lowell who just beat UMaine 88-64 Wednesday night are now eligible for the Tournament so there is no 8-9 play in game, only the top 8 teams make the tournament. The ninth place team has to stay home and Maine will be fighting to stay out of 9th place as only 1-8 Binghamton who is currently in ninth place behind Maine by 1 game at 2-7.

Again, the "Figures don't lie" and they show why UMaine has been in the worst 3 plus 116 game year won lost period slump in the program's history.

Don't worry we only have to endure this for another Month and Half...but pray for the players.
In situations like this they are the ones who end up suffering or having to transfer after a new coach
comes to town and a new coach will be coming to town soon in my opinion.

Just hope he can keep this core of kids together...they are not too far off right now.

basketball_guy: And neither were 7 of the 11 who transferred that far off either. Except for the same problems that this year's core is having.
